    Gentlemen,

After much discussion, we have elected to make some revisions to the trade rules for the Madden 15 release. We have made these changes in an attempt to encourage team building through player development, the draft, and even free agency, rather than trades. While trading is an integral part of any good Madden franchise, we want to ensure that it doesn't get out of hand and too far into fantasy territory.

I have quoted the trade rule in their entirety below, but allow me to highlight a few key changes from last release:
    • No more "in-season" and "off-season" trades. Any trade can take place anytime in the "Trade Period" which is from the start of the off-season through the regular season trade deadline.
    • Teams are limited to TWO (2) player trades (any trade involving a player) per season. Note: There will be a bonus third trade allowed in our first season.
    • No more 3 team trades. All trades will be limited to TWO (2) teams involved.
    • With the elimination of 3 team trades, there is a four (4) player limit per trade (max of three (3) to/from any single team).
    • The blockbuster designation has been retired. Teams will now be limited to sending and/or receiving a single 90+ player per trade. So each team may send and/or receive a 90+ player in each of their trades.
    • We have instituted some limitations in regards to acquiring draft picks.
      • Teams are limited to having 2 first round picks in any single draft
      • Teams are limited to having a maximum total of 12 draft picks and a minimum total of 5 draft picks for any one draft, prior to the start of that draft.
    • There is now a restriction against draft class swapping. I know owners sometimes can't make a draft, but we can no longer allow owners to simply swap picks for the same picks in a later draft.
    • We have decided to extend the restriction on trading rookie players, to the first 3 years in the league for any player. We hope this will encourage less draft poaching of the same positions and more drafting for need.
I know many of these changes are pretty significant, but they were made with the best interests and long term health of the league as a whole in mind.

Please feel free to reply with any questions, concerns, or feedback.

    Thanks,

    ~Jim

Love it personally, the stricter the better imo. Yes you see trades from time to time in the NFL but nothing compared to an average Madden league. The NFL its all about player development, drafts and FA.

Not sure what this reply means or is trying to imply....But the Richardson trade was an EXTREMELY rare occurrence.

As I said, the purposes of the restrictions are to promote roster health in THIS league and encourage building teams the RIGHT way. Trading a top 5 pick early in his 2nd season is unheard of and nobody's definition of the right way to build a team.

That kind of move was a rarity in the NFL. Make it allowable in this league and it will happen more than a handful of times.

    It's a good rule.

    Is there a trade committee?

That yellow is tough to read.

All trades will be evaluated by league management, which consists of myself, Doug (CHUNKNESS) and Michael (Michael Overman). Once a trade has been approved by 2 staff members, it can be processed in the franchise.

Have you tried the "dark layout" for the forums? It makes the colored text much more tolerable.

Jim, Michael and I will act as the trade committee. Once two of us approve, the deal may be processed.

*EDIT: Sorry, just saw Jim's reply.

No I agree it is rare. I was just pointing it out an occurance as a deadline deal that was blockbuster. Wasn't speaking out against any regulations.

My favorite part of the new rule. Nothing used to irk me more then seeing people swapping picks for next year picks because someone couldn't make the draft. Completely un-realistic.

Read and understood the new rules, looks good gentlemen.

Good amendments....everyone who played m25 should know I'm a fan of the Blockbuster...and was always looking to deal....Trades and GM work is funner than playing games sometimes. That said, I like the new rules, im only gonna try to make realistic trades in 15....glad there is no more draft swapping too, Read and understood.

Does this mean teams can trade for picks during a draft and accumulate more than 12 or am I reading it wrong?

You are correct. During the draft there is no restriction on minimum or maximum number of picks for THAT draft (other than a limit of 2 first rounders at ALL times). We still don't want to see Draft Class Swapping though.

Are we going to be using custom draft classes or the random ones the game generates?

Not even sure that custom would be a possibility, but either way there is no need with the random generated classes.
