We will just be playing for fun and bragging rights. The league will be rotisserie style (you will have a certain number of players at each position, and each position plays 82 total games).

I'm planning on having us do an offline draft here on the forum, as I thought that would be pretty cool.

I love fantasy basketball, and find it a great way to follow the NBA.

Why? I've played rotisserie style for 5-6 years, it works great.

I'm sure roto is cool. I've done H2H for years and it's always been great. Its cool because it gives you the weekly shit talking that comes with playing another person, while still giving you the grind of a long season.

I'm fine with giving roto a chance though.

With head to head in hoops (cause I've never done it) - is there still a limit on how many games each position plays over the entire season?

    How we do it is:

I think last year our setup was:

    10 team HTH

    PG
    SG
    G
    SF
    PF
    F
    C
    C
    UTIL (any position)
    UTIL (any position)

    ---------
    Bench
    Bench
    Bench

    We had 9 cats

    Field Goal Percentage (FG%),
    Free Throw Percentage (FT%),
    3-point Shots Made (3PTM),
    Points Scored (PTS),
    Total Rebounds (REB),
    Assists (AST),
    Steals (ST),
    Blocked Shots (BLK),
    Turnovers (TO)

Each week you play a user. At the end of the week, the person with the most cats won is the "winner". But your point total is running. So if I won 8-1 in week 1, I'd be above a person that won 6-3. So there is a bit of luck involved as far as matchups. You could have a solid week but just happen to go against a team that played out of their minds.

At the end of the season the top 6 teams made the playoffs with the top 2 getting byes in round 1.

The things I like about it are: It's easier for owners to stay into it because its broken down into a more manageable "week" versus the "entire season" in which guys tend to lose interest IMO.

The things i DONT like are: NBA is notorious for guys tanking and/or sitting late in the season. So you have to pay attention to when you set the end date of the league. Also, there are TONS of injuries in NBA. So you have to really think about your positional setup.

I think in my league we are actually going to remove the second Center spot and the G and F spots, while keeping the roster size the same. That way you arent screwed if you have an injury crisis mid season. Unlike Fantasy Baseball, there is no DL, so under our old setup, we'd have situations where a guy would miss 2 months mid season, but he was too good to 'drop' necessarily. So with a few more bench spots, it should allow guys to stash an injury while staying competitive.

To your question on a cap on starts/games, the answer is no. While this seems like it could give a team an advantage if a player has more games for a certain week, that is true, but we've found that overall i evens itself out pretty well.

We'll do the draft here on the forum. You'll only be screwed if you don't check in periodically.

We won't do the draft until closer to the season. We will do the draft through the forum and I'll put it on the yahoo site. We need to let the dust settle on FA a bit.

Because as we saw with Perrys fantasy football league, finding a time that works for everyone to be online at the same time is virtually impossible. I thought it would be better to have everyone draft their team as opposed to 1/2 the guys having an auto-drafted squad.
