The Sun Devils come off a season where first year head coach went 6-7 with a humiliating 56-24 bowl loss to Boise St that wasn't as close as the score indicated. QB Brock Osweiler left early for the NFL draft and the top 3 receivers for the team graduated. On defense, the top 6 tacklers graduated. ASU outscored opponents 33.2 to 28.6 and had a +9 turnover ratio.

Brock Osweiler threw for 4,036 yards and 26 TD last year. His absence leaves a gaping hole in the 2 deep. So Taylor Kelly was 4-4 for 31 yards last season in relief duty, but he appears to be 3rd on the depth chart heading into camp. RS Fr Michael Eubank stands at 6'5" 242 lbs and appears to be the leader to take over the spot heading into camp. Eubank is a dangerous dual threat guy. So Mike Bercovici is also in the running for playing time.

    Running Back

ASU returns their top 3 rushers from last season. Sr Cameron Marshall returns off a season where he ran for 1,050 yards and 18 TD. Marshall is a bulldozer, standing at 5'11" 223 lbs. Sr Jamal Miles was a hybrid WR / change of pace back last season and he rushed for 244 yards. This season, he will move to WR full time with the return of RS So Deantre Lewis, who is back on the team after recovering from gunshot wounds.

    Wide Receiver

ASU employs 3 WR sets as a staple of the offense. Miles and Sr Rashad Ross both stand under 6'0" and provide speed and shiftiness. The third receiver in the set is 6'4" Alonzo Agwuenu. Agwuenu is a Juco transfer and it remains to be seen how his game will translate in the Pac-12.

    Offensive Line

The offensive line only returns 26 career starts. Sr RG Andrew Sampson, So LG Jamil Douglas, Sr RT Brice Schwab, and Jr LT Evan Finkenburg all have some starting experience, but have had injury issues. Jr C Kody Koebensky has 2 years of experience in a backup role for the Sun Devils.

    Defensive Line

ASU runs a 3-3-5 scheme and they will be young up front, returning only 18 career starts. Jr DT Will Sutton returns the most experience, with 33 tackles and 2.5 sacks last year. Juco transfer Mike Pennel holds down the DE spot. Sr Corey Adams will anchor the middle at NT. He saw playing time in 30 games in his career, but has only 1 career start.

Jr Junior Onyeali moves from defensive line to the devil position. Onyeali has 6.5 career sacks and 12 career starts. Sr Brandon Magee holds down the WLB position and has 12 career starts. Juco transfer Steffon Martin is the projected starter at MLB.

    Defensive Backs

The defensive backfield has 44 returning starts. Sr CB Deveron Carr returns with 21 career starts under his belt. Jr CB Osahon Irabor returns with 20 career starts. Irabor has 88 career tackles. Jr Chris Young is another Juco transfer and will play one of the safety positions. Sr FS Keelan Johnson has 4 career starts. The spur position will be played by Jr Matt Tucker.

Sr P Josh Hubner and So K Alex Garoutte both return. Hubner averaged 41.3 yards per punt for a 37.3 yard net. Garoutte had a rough year, only going 15-22 in field goals with a 49 yard long. WR Jamal Miles will handle both the kick return and punt return duties.
