Hey Guys, It's been brought to our attention to restrict signings. I will adding the following rule to the rulebook: If you have any questions to the logic for this rule please feel free to ask. Thank you for your understanding. - Frisk
I like it, this just keeps us from guys having needless roster transactions just to get draft picks. Lets call this the "Garret Atkins Rule"
Releasing Kelvim Escobar (35) Will Ohman (34) Free Agent Adds Carlos Silva (32) Cory Aldridge (32)
I am going to open a discussion about adding a rule like this: Guys that are signed during the season have to be kept until after the rule 5 draft no matter the age (when releases can be made)... I want to keep this league a "gentlemens league" as too many rules water it down but I am not sure I like the idea of guys signing guys just to cut them so they get more "picks" in the draft, I think it's cheating the system.. what do you guys think?? @Emmdotfrisk @sdid22 @ryty32 @controllerabuser @_MG_ @G_T_G @soxandgators @cadepetty247 @Zikry
I agree 100% with this rule. It's easy to see how you can take advantage of a loaded rule 5 class by bringing in FAs with the intention of just giving yourself more draft picks come season's end.
I am 100 percent with ya here bro.....Not sure the post rule 5 idea would work......Maybe we can make it mandatory to play the fee agents instead of sitting on the 25 man.
In my opinion, you should be able to cut them at anytime. However, the additional picks you get in the rule 5 would be the last of the draft.
I was just going to suggest something like this...however in reality we shouldn't even be having to discuss this. Like Texas Bob said, it is a gentlemans league and I would rather not see guys try and find loop holes in the system we made in order to get an advantage. If you are signing a free agent, have a better reason for it other than the rule 5. The rule 5 is stocked with talent this year, and it is obviously why this rule came up with guys licking their lips in anticipation. I would just ask not to be gluttonous. Take the picks you deserve for who you are losing and sign free agents who you think will contribute, not who will get you more picks.
