ATTN: All owners - New disconnect rule! Most of us are in NCAA leagues, and we know there is a feature in them for the commish to "throw out the results of a game" allowing it to be replayed or simmed depending on the circumstances. The people who made Madden didn't see fit to include this feature in the game. Both myself and Ryno have messed with the franchise and there is no way/power for the commish to do this, thus once a game is final...the score is set in stone. We had a little bit of an incident this week between SF (Sandman) and Seattle (Brihahn). Midway thru the 3rd qtr, SF was up 8, when Brihahn was disconnected. The message to Sandman showed that he quit, but that is just the generic message EA uses when 1 of the 2 players is no longer "in the game". A few messages were exchanged, but due to time constraints, Sandman could not replay the entire game and instead finished up vs. the cpu and won pretty big. Ryno's and my ruling was that the result needed to be thrown out and the game replayed, or in this case since Sandman is on vacation, simmed. We now know that is not possible. Therefore, going forward... IF THERE IS A DISCONNECT IN A GAME...DO NOT FINISH THE GAME AGAINST THE CPU! Immediately pause the game and message your opponent. IF the game if lopsided and your opponent agrees that he would have lost, then and only then, can you unpause the game and finish against the cpu. If the game was close, you must quit yourself so the result does not count. There are then 3 options of how you guys can proceed. Using this example: - #1 Sandman/Brihahn have to replay the entire game again - #2 They play a half, with Sandman up 8. You add 8 pts to SF's score at the end of the 1st half and determine who "would have won". The loser then quits out with the winner finishing up to get the W against the cpu - #3 If 1 of the 2 people do not have time to play again, the entire game is simmed. Since this was the 1st incident, no punishment will be handed out. However, now that the rule is in place, and everyone is aware of the rule, failure to comply will result in punish and possible removal from the TMFL.
