Auburn Tigers 2013 2013 Auburn Tigers Fans in Auburn, AL are very excited about this season. With excitement comes expectations. After a 13-1 season and SEC champions, many people are expecting this team to take to the next step. The pieces are in place for a National Title run this year. A strong offense and a playmaking defense. Auburn lost only 2 starters, WR Emory Blake and SS Tasharvin Bell. This team is still young, with the core being mostly juniors and sophomores. Offense is led by sophomore QB Brad Freeman. Freeman was named the starter last season, but an opening day injury forced him to miss 5 weeks of the season. He was able to rebound nicely to led wins over Georgia, Mizzou, and Bama and was named to the Freshman All-American team. 4 year starter Michael Dyer is back and will have his workload expanded. He will get 70-80 % of the carries this b/c Coach Dean has decided to redshirt sophomore Brad Pickens. Dyer is closing in on the school record for yard and Td's in a career and nothing should stop him from getting them both. Although the WR corp lost Emory Blake, it's still an explosive bunch. Trovon Reed and Antonio Goodwin will be the main targets, with Shaun Kitchens stepping into a bigger role. If there is a weakness, its the offensive line. They allowed 24 sacks last year, but transfer C Jack Mewhort should provide senior leadership and make those around him better. Defense is going to solid this year. 3 All Americans in DE Nosa Eguae, MLB Jake Holland, and CB Adrian Gaston all return to a defense that posted a +12 turnover ration last year. Experience at every position is going to make this unit fun to watch this year. Speed at all 3 levels makes it hard to run on the Tigers. The aspect that this group needs to improve in is pass defense. The schedule for the Tigers is challenging. Early tests @Oklahoma, vs Tennessee, and vs Rutgers. Then to finish the season vs Ole Miss, @Georgia, vs Bama, and @North Carolina.
