Atlanta and Cleveland met in an eastern conference match-up and both teams were at each others necks all day. Cleveland took the lead early as Alonzo Gee was leading the charge for the Cavs, the midrange and deep games were near unstoppable for Cleveland. Gee would finish the day with 30 points. Cleveland had the lead until late in the 3rd quarter when Atlanta fought back to grab the lead and would hang onto it for a good portion of the remainder of the game. The Cavs didnt go down without a fight though as they tied it late, but an ice cold corner 3 from Lou Williams would help ice the game and give Atlanta a 4 point lead with 9 seconds left. Back and forth battle all day with great plays and effort from both sides. GG JFace907

Kyrie's Huge 4th Does In Pacers In Opener
Cavs pull it out over Indiana in the home opener with Kyrie's 15 4th quarter points
Cleveland, OH: In an outrageously loud Quicken Loans Arena the Cavs started their 2012-13 campaign in front of their home fans against an opponent that Bryon Scott specifically aimed his training camp for. "Coach had us running to start practice, running in the middle of practice, and then again before we went home. Needless to say, i'm in the best shape of my life," said Kyrie Irving. They needed every bit of the conditioning as Coach Frank Vogel runs an EXTREMELY fast paced offense that will wear out your normal team. The Pacers got off to a fast start as well taking a 27-20 lead into the second quarter and then expanding that lead to 12 before the break. "We just didn't execute in the first. Especially on defense. I was disappointed and i let them know that," said Head Coach Byron Scott. The Cavaliers turned it around immediately in the second half outscoring the Pacers 29-17 in the third. "That was huge, i've always felt the 3rd quarter was one of the biggest quarters of the games because you either come out strong and put yourself in position to win, or you get behind the 8 ball and it causes guys to press in the 4th," Scott said. Even with the great third quarter, 2nd year guard out of Duke Kyrie Irving knew that he needed to step his game up in the 4th if his team was going to win. Kyrie didn't start the 4th quarter, a trend Scott says you'll see a lot of this year to keep his star fresh, but once he entered the game you immediately knew it. Kyrie began sinking shots and finding open teammates, even crashing the boards on the defensive end. Kyrie would score the last 10 points of the game for the Cavaliers including an amazingly tough layup where big man Roy Hibbert forced Kyrie to go to his left hand and bank it in. "I still don't know how he made it. The kid has skills, thats all i've got to say on that," said the Georgetown big man. "Kyrie was his normal 4th quarter self. He's come into the league and immediately let it be known that no stage is too big for him yet. I love that about the kid," said Scott about Kyrie. Great game sonn

Dallas ( CPU )- 84atBrooklyn ( dj illmatic 23 )- 92 The Nets began their new lives in Brooklyn with a 92-84 win over the Dallas Mavericks. The game was tight throughout, and it wasn't until a late 3 pointer by Joe Johnson that the Nets sealed the deal. Deron Williams led Brooklyn with 27 points, but only had 4 assists. Often the offense struggled to get a good shot. Joe Johnson made his debut for Brooklyn and added 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Kris Humphries led the Nets in rebounding with 10. The Mavs were led by Dirk Nowitzki who had 18 points. O.J. Mayo added 17, but this came on 6-15 shooting. After the game the Nets coach made it clear to reporters his team had a long way to go. " We have to shoot better, and run our offense better as well. We need to get a good shot every time down court. We can't make them all, but we have to get good shots. To many times we took bad shoots as the clock expired. We'll get their. Timing is everything, and right now were a tad bit off.
The Hornets open their sesaon with a solid win over the Magic.... The Hornets have 3 rookies who play extended minutes... and all three came to play in their first professional game.... Memphis (TEClemson53) @ Dallas (CPU) Memphis went into Dallas and snagged a win over the Mavericks. Memphis came out on fire and led after the first quarter 23-18 but a huge 2nd quarter from Dallas put the Grizzlies in a halftime hole 43-37. Dallas' Delonte West penetrated the Memphis defense for much of the 2nd quarter and into the 3rd quarter. The Grizzlies found themselves down 13 mdiway through the 3rd quarter when everything took a turn for the better led by PG Mike Conley and SG Wayne Ellington. Ellington railed off 9 straight points off solid defense on the other end and put Memphis right back into the mix. Memphis fixed the defensive woes and shut down Dallas on their way to a 15-0 run that continued til late in the 4th quarter. Rudy Gay & Tony Allen finished things off late in the game with big baskets & free throws to to outscore Dallas in the 4th 26-15 and snag the first win of the season for the Grizzlies 88-82. WIll update this evening. Bear with me as my schedule is hectic as shit for the next month at least.
Oklahoma City ( Papa Perry )- 86atBrooklyn ( dj illmatic 23 )- 102 The Brooklyn Nets came away with a big win against the defending Western Conference champions 102-86. The Nets used a big third quarter run to pull away far enough to withstand an amazing shooting performance by Kevin Durant. Durant finished with 34 points, including 4-5 from three point land. Westbrook chipped in with 15 and 7 assists. James Hardin had 11, but shot only 4-11 from the field. Brooklyn was led by Deron Williams who scored 30 points on only 16 shots, and also had 6 dimes. Joe Johnson added 23 on 10-13 shooting. Kris Humphries had 8 points and 8 rebounds.
Phoenix ( Ryan C )- 73
atBrooklyn ( dj illmatic 23 )- 93
The Brooklyn Nets continue to roll as they defeat the Phoenix Suns 93-73. The Nets took control of this game early, and continued to build on their lead throughout the game. Brooklyn could not stop Michael Beasley, who had 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Fortunately for the Nets they did a good job of containing everyone else. No other Suns' player scored in double figures. The Nets were led by their usual suspects: Joe Johnson dropped 22 and Deron Williams had 18 points and 8 assists. Despite those great numbers, the player of the game was Brook Lopez. Lopez had a season high 17 points, and showed how dangerous Brooklyn can be if Lopez is a threat to score. Kris Humphries once again led the Nets in rebounding with 8 boards. The play of the game came from Nets' rookie PG Tyshawn Taylor. Taylor, who had 7 points, crossed over his defender at the top of the key and picked up on Beasley before dunking in his grill, despite giving up 7 inches. To make matters worse, after out jumping Beasley and yoking on him the young rookie told Beasley to jump next time
Brooklyn ( dj illmatic 23 )- 109
LA Clippers ( KnightNoles )- 94
The Brooklyn Nets won their fourth straight game, and 5 of 6 as they rolled the LA Clippers 109-94. The Clippers looked like they were the old Paul Westphal Loyola Marymount squads, running and gunning firing 3's. Jamal Crawford led the team with 25 points, but shot 6-16 from behind the arc. Chris Paul had 14 points and 10 assists, while Blake Griffin added 13 points and 9 rebounds. Deron Williams led the way for Brooklyn with 31 points and 7 assists. Joe Johnson added 29 points as the Nets shot 53% from the field. Kris Humphries led the team in rebounding with 9 and chipped in with 4 points, as every player scored for the Nets.
The Most Clutch Player in the City of Cleveland Does it Again
In what appeared to be a dead play, Kyrie hits it as the clock strikes zero
Cleveland, OH: Its safe to say the rivalry is back. Anderson Varejao and Boobie Gibson may be the only remaining cast members of this play but Cavs/Wiz Rivalry has taken center stage once again. "I still don't like that franchise. I respect them, but they have always left a bad taste in my mouth from those playoff series," said Gibson after the game. Both teams seem to be on the rise after spending the last few years in relative freefall, but with the help of quality picks and a couple trades the Cavs and Wiz appear to be ready to compete for the playoffs again. On this exciting November 13th of 2012, the two would take the court and play an instant classic. The Washington Wizards found themselves in control for a lot of the game leading at one time by double digits. The lead was in big thanks to Jordan Crawford who just could not miss hitting 16 of his 19 shots on his way to 35 points. "I was practically in his shorts and he was hitting, I just didn't understand it," rookie shooting guard Dion Waiters said of Crawford. "He's a quality player, we scouted him quite a bit at Xavier and then of course there is the video of where he posterized LeBron in a pick up game," said Head Coach Byron Scott after the game. Unfortunately for the Wizards he was the only player who could fill up the cup at an efficient clip. Bradley Beal and John Wall each reached double digits (13 and 12), but neither did could catch fire. Both men shot for 29% from the field and went a combined 1-9 from deep. Meanwhile for the Cavs Kyrie Irving seemed to coast for the first 3 quarters of the game more focused on getting his teammates going. Anderson Varejao was the early benefiter of the play scoring all 8 of his points in the first half. Tristan Thompson had his best shooting game as a pro scoring 11 points going 5 of 7 from the field and most of them being elbow jumpers or deeper inside the arc. Kyrie finished the game with 10 assists, but the fourth quarter (again) was where Kyrie shined the brightest. "Kyrie Irving comes up with the steal and immediately pushes, Kyrie pulls up from three! Bang!!! Kyrie Irving DEEEEP in the Q!!!" was the call on Fox Sports Ohio. That shot the Cavs were hoping was the straw that would break the camel's back but the Wizards would not go away eventually tying the game with 30 seconds to go. With the ball the Cavs were looking for the best shot they could get and came up empty. Luckily for them the Wizards had a mental lapse giving up on the glass. "Offensive rebound Cavs, we will have the last shot. Give the ball to Kyrie and get out of that man's way!" That was exactly what the Cavs did "Kyrie at the top of the arc, calls for the iso. 5 seconds, Andy now comes to set the screen Kyrie hits the elbow. He's got nowhere to go, takes a step back dribble, jumps, shoots, ITS GOOD!!! ITS GOOD!!!! CAVS WIN OVER THE WIZARDS!!!!" Fox Sports Ohio commentator Fed McLeod on the call for the exciting climax. "He's the most clutch player to ever put on a Cavs jersey. Ever." said Scott after the game. Great game ryalaman

Uncle Drew gets buckets
The Hawks took a trip out to the Staples Center to take on the new look Lakers. Last year the Lake show took the season series so the Hawks had a bit of a chip on their shoulder to begin with. This game didnt disappoint as it was a back and forth battle the entire time. In the 1st both teams were feeling each other out a bit, Atlanta took a small lead but the Lakers tied it up at 21 to end the first. The Hawks had the slight 3 point lead at halftime, but the 3rd was dominated by Kobe and he grabbed back the lead headed into the 4th. The 4th quarter was crazy as both teams traded bucket after bucket, the Lakers had the ball in the final 24 seconds of the game down by 2, a situation that Kobe lives for. Atlanta was playing things tight trying to take away the three, Nash passed it to Dwight and Atlanta immediately fouled him to send him to the line. Dwight missed both free throws and Atlanta would grab the victory after knocking down a FT of their own. "This was a great win for us, to come out here and take one away from arguably the most talented team in the league in their own house. Nobody can touch us right now" Said PF Josh Smith after the game.

Atlanta welcomed the Timmy D and the Spurs to town today in another game against a solid opponent from the Western (read: Weaker) conference. Atlanta did a good job of getting out ahead of the Spurs in the first half, they were a little too athletic and the additions of Mikael Pietrus and Kenyon Martin there were 12 guys out there who the Coach felt comfortable with leaving on the floor for extended periods of time. Atlanta shot lights out as they hit 57% from the field and 55% from behind the Arc. Add to that 52 bench points and thats a potent combination. The Spurs didn't go quietly though as in the second half they got to the free throw line at will and really pressured Atlanta but a solid push in the last few minutes took care of them. "San Antonio is a good team but they play old man ball, get outta here with that" Said a boisterous Josh Smith afterwards.

Atlanta had their toughest game to date today when they visited JrRawlins and his New Orleans Hornets. Atlanta had no response for rookie Austin Rivers as he had his way early drawing to quick fouls from Al Horford and Josh Smith. The teams seemed to each want it as badly as the other as every possession was a fight, New Orleans definately had Atlanta rocked in the 1st half despite the 1 point lead going into halftime. In the 2nd half though Atlanta seemed to loosen up a bit and played much better. Still sloppy play from both sides, but Atlanta had an edge depth wise and got some key 3s from Anthony Morrow and Kyle Korver to really keep the Hornets at bay. GG JrRawlins

No Such Thing As A Sophomore Slump
Mr. 4th quarter does it again leading the Cavs over the Celtics late
Boston, MA: We may still only be in November, but thus far Kyrie Irving is showing zero signs of a sophomore slump. Against the Celtics the point guard from Duke set a career high going for 37 points on 13 of 23 from the field and a perfect 9 for 9 from the charity stripe. He was the star in what was a whale of game that saw neither team hold more than a five point lead. Going into the fourth quarter the teams were separated by a point and 4th quarter closers Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce were ready to put their foot on the throat of the young Cavaliers. Heading into the last 5 minutes of the 4th it looked like they were going to do just that. "Rondo was getting into the paint far too easily on Jeremy (Pargo)," said coach Byron Scott. At that point was when Kyrie Irving finally entered the game after his 4th quarter rest. "Kid stayed on me, i need to do a better job getting my teammates in open areas," said Rajon Rondo. "No, fatigue was not a factor, i'm used to playing most of the games. Plus we're early into the season i shouldn't be tired yet," responded Rondo when asked if fatigue was a factor in his fade in play once Kyrie entered the game. Once the Cavs strung together those stops Kyrie took over on offense scoring 10+ fourth quarter points again. "I just try to get open shots. If i don't, i trust my teammates to hit as well," said Irving. The Cavs have games against the Suns and Bobcats coming up with the division rival Chicago Bulls looming on the schedule.

The Warriors would start the game off hot and jump out to an early lead forcing the Clips to play catch up. By the time the halftime came the Warriors would be up only 7 points but were clearly dominating the game. It seemed like every shot was falling and we were making all the big plays keeping the Clips at bay. It all changed in the 3rd as the Clips got back in the game after falling down by 14, they were hitting from everywhere on the the court and cut the lead to two to start the fourth. The fourth quarter was back and forth until about 3 minutes remaining when the Clips finally were able to take the lead. They would lead by as much as 4 in the final minutes but Clay Thompson put the team on his back and 3 treys in a row to put the Warriors back on top with less than 15 secs to go. The Clips would get a final shot to tie but missed and the Warriors sealed the game at the line.

The Warriors would start off strong and go up early by ten but the grizzlies slowly and methodically get back into the game. The Warriors were up by only 4 at the half in a very defensive oriented game as both teams were shooting horribly from the field. Even though it was close game the Griz never lead the entire game. The only reason the Warriors were up in the game was because they were out rebounding the Griz to the tune of 43 to 26. When the 4th quarter came the game was still close and the Warriors were able to pull away with under 2 minutes remaining as the defense stiffened and forced some bad shots.

Coming out of half, they locked down on the defensive end while the offense opened up a little bit more. In the fourth Jamal Crawford and Chris Paul worked a connection and the Clippers won going away.

Los Angeles Clippers went on the road to Conseco Fieldhouse and came out with a victory. Clippers brought some first quarter intensity, leading by 4. The Pacers equaled that intensity in the second quarter and the teams went into halftime tied up at 40. A dismal third quarter had the Pacers playing catch up the rest of the way but they couldn't stop the offense of LAC and could never get the game down under 10 and keep it within striking distance.

Nice win on the road vs a division rival to open the year. The game was tight early, but in the 2nd the Pacers started trying to force tempo which led to turnovers and tough shots. The Bulls just relied on Rose (24 and 6 with 3 steals), Booz (20 and 8) and new starter at SG Leandro Barbosa (13 and 6 with 3 steals).
Another good defensive performance by Chicago. The Bulls were led by DRose with 28, and in a surprise, Luol Deng outplayed Michael Beasley by scoring 13 points on 5 shots. Conversely, Beasley got 14 on 7-20 from the field.
The Bulls ran out to a 10 point halftime lead only to play poorly in the 3rd and let the Kings back into it. The defense locked down in the final period, out scoring Sacramento by 15 for the W. Rose had 30 with 7 boards and 9 dimes. Booz had 20 and 14 and Rip added 19.
Denvers goofy front court lineups doomed them in this one, as they kept trotting out SFs at PF and occasionally C. Rose had 27 with 7 boards and 7 assists and Booz had 20, 11 and 5.
We just couldn't slow down the lake show in this one, as they continually carved up the D for easy point blank shots. Kobe had 34, Dwight had 24 and 14. Rose had 37 and Booz had 22 but it wasn't enough.
If the Magic can play like this all season, it could surprise a lot of people. I got contributions from a lot of different people. Afflalo has finally gotten his head out of his ass and become one of the better players for the Magic. The defense was able to hold Dirk to 12 points on 3/12 shooting. Jameer Nelson has proven to be the true leader of this team after Dwight left and has the young guys believing they can win.

Jameer Nelson - 15 pts, 11 rebs, 6 ast
