Discussion till the Championship
CURRENT BCS STANDINGS:
1: Ohio State 7-0
2: Texas 8-0
3: West Virginia 7-0
4: Pittsburgh 7-0
5: Wisconsin 7-1
6: Michigan 5-1
7: Alabama 6-1
8: USC 5-1
9: Boston College 6-1
10: Notre Dame 7-1
11: BYU 8-0
12: Penn State 6-2
13: Iowa 6-2
14: Clemson 7-2
15: Florida State 4-3
Week 10 Night Owls interest: 3 of 4 NO Pac 10 user teams trying to crack the top 15. Including UCLA @ 16th, Arizona 17th and Oregon 19th. UCLA has better record (6-2) than FSU in front of them, and Oregon is on its way back up after a really awful start to the year.
Only 4 user teams in the top 15. This is dramatically lower from last season at this time in the year.
Once again, proof that the Big 10 is the nations best conference with 5 teams in the top 15.
It affects my sensibilities that Notre Dame is going to get a BCS bid...
3: West Virginia 7-0
4: Pittsburgh 7-0
All that standing between Wisconsin and the National title game.
and I suppose winning their games too...
That's right winning their games too. I took him to OT last year, and hope to actually finish the job this time around
This BCS business could get real messy with the games left on the schedule. Good get very interesting!
I went in expecting a blowout, and got a fight to the end instead. But welcome to Camp Randall come week 13. We dont lose here often.
That message would have a lot more fire if Texas didnt just come in there and beat you
Ohhhhhh snap. Dems fightin words!
There would be 4 teams, if Oregon State could get any love in the polls
damn forgot that was a home game haha. well played.
My boys made a strong case for a top 20 slot in both polls and the BCS by defeating OU (Yes, top 20, not sneaking in). At 8-2 and 6-0 there's no reason we get shafted anymore. With a mere 2 games left we have a legitimate shot to win the South and the Big 12, not to mention wins over Oregon (still in the top 20), and now Oklahoma (18 in all 3 polls coming into the week). I demand justice!
Of note in week 11:
*We'll see if a very solid win for the Badgers against highly ranked PSU vaults them ahead of either Pitt or WVU just based on schedule strength alone, even with the loss in place.
*Michigan is right there as well, and while the Wisconsin win was more impressive, the pollsters are fickle, with UM ahead of UW in the media and vica versa for the Coaches.
*3 mid BCS spots for users at 12, 13 and 14 are up for grabs, Arizona should move up after the week off because PSU directly beneath them lost, also UCLA held on and should move up. If Iowa comes out of Columbia unscathed, they will move up as well. The real question here, is how far will PSU fall after a close loss to a highly rated Badger team. Tough call it's gonna depend on those pesky pollsters again.
*A&M cracked the top 20 last week, and should move up another significant chunk after a dominating win against Tech. With the Longhorns coming to town in 2 weeks, the rankings don't matter a whole lot at this point for this team. If they win, they're headed to the Big 12 Title and seemingly a BCS birth, with a loss, they're likely headed back to the Cotton Bowl. Boy are they feeling the sting of an early close loss to Arkansas, who sits directly ahead of them.
*Oregon State will also look to crack the top 20 this week after what should be an easy game against the Cougars. However their BCS birth hopes ride on the shoulders of some non-favored teams. They could go anywhere from the Alamo to the Emerald at this point.
*The Illinois Fighting Illini, played their way out of the BCS longshots picture this week against Michigan.
We were way out of the longshots picture. Illinois has what, 5 or 6 teams ahead of them (Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Penn State and maybe Minnesota) with three games to go coming into the week? even if we would have won out, there was no way we would get the second slot from the Big Ten :-(
But now, with 7-5 looking more and more like a reality, a return trip to the Texas Bowl is a STRONG possibility for Coach Cheez and the Fighting Illini.
Arizona controls their own destiny but has 2 tough user games left (the 2 Oregon schools) and then their in state rival Arizona State. UCLA is hoping for a shot at the Rose Bowl, but winning out could give them an outside shot at an at large BCS bid. If not, I think its back to the Alamo Bowl for the Bruins.
Another week, another win for both Pitt and WVU. Wisconsin patiently waits in 5th for spots to start opening up. What is also crazy to Badger fans is that, technically, Michigan is tied with Wisconsin for 5th in the BCS rankings, both having .975 score, even though Wisconsin beat em in week 6. Things should be taking care of when Ohio St and Michigan square off week 13, but say if Michigan was to win. Then the win over the #1 ranked team would probably be enough to move Michigan ahead of us. Crazy.
Oregon State believes it has a shot at the Rose Bowl, but it needs to win out and have UCLA somehow lose. I will be happy with the Holiday or Alamo Bowl.
Pitt has fallen! 28-3 by Uconn. Now the only thing standing in my way of a national championship is wvu, with games against hawaii, pitt, and washington st left.
The Big Ten vs. Big Ten dream title match still has a shot at becoming a reality.
Gotta cheer for Pitt now in the Backyard Brawl
The Cougs will take them out...Pac10 dominates OOC foes!
..... Illinois def. Oregon State
And, I just had myself another shootout vs. the CPU. This will be a fun write up.
Now, this is certainly bulletin board material if I have ever seen it.
The Badgers have been close the past couple of years to the national title. We want to take full advantage of the opportunity presented to us right now.
