BCS Championship Game Preview The undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes will roll into New Orleans to take on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame on Saturday night January 7th (2012). The Buckeyes have had a great season under head coach Bkhogfan, led by super senior Terrelle Pryor at quarterback. No one expected Notre Dame to be here in New Orleans after a disappointing 2010 season mark of 7-6. Coach 2Bits has his team here, but not without some controversy; many around the country feel that UCLA was more deserving of a title shot, especially since the Bruins have a victory against the only team to beat Notre Dame this season: the USC Trojans. The real question in this game is: can Notre Dame stay within 2 touchdowns of Ohio State? Are we looking at a repeat of the '06 Fiesta Bowl and an Ohio State coronation? Here are 5 key questions to the game as I see it: 1. Can Notre Dame contain the dual HB threat of Dan "Boom" Herron and Jaamal Berry? Both of these backs are lightning quick and have combined for 23 TDs this year. 2. Will either quarterback be able to avoid making turnovers? Dayne Crist has more INTs than TDs this year and has been pulled on multiple occasions for spotty play. Terrelle Prior has 34 TDs on the season, but also 27 INTs. The turnover battle looms large in this game. 3. Can Cierre Wood break out against the Buckeyes? In Notre Dame's only loss to USC, Wood was limited to 37 yards on 12 carries. The All-American will have to have a good game in order for the Irish to stay in this one. 4. Is Ohio State too much for Notre Dame in the trenches? Ohio State's OL is anchored by 3 seniors who will no doubt be making an impact on Sundays. Can Notre Dame and All-American Kapron Lewis-Moore get to Pryor and disrupt the passing game? 5. Luck of the Irish or the Buckeye? Both teams have their quirky superstitions. Hopefully this one will be an instant classic. Terrelle Pryor has passed for over 4000 yards and 34 TDs in 2011 Cierre Wood has rushed for over 1000 yards and 24 TDs this season Line: Ohio State by 7 Predictions?
