Michigan Opens Season With A Bang#13 @ Piscataway, NJ- In a homecoming for Coach JerzeyReign, the Wolverines of Michigan came into Rutgers stadium and took out the Scarlet Knights 30-17 to open up the 2012 season. Both teams came out a little sloppy in the beginning as neither offense could maintain any momentum. Michigan kicker B.Gibbons opened up the scoring knocking in a 25 yard FG after an impressive opening drive by the Wolverines stalled inside the Scarlet Knights' 20 yard line. Rutgers wouldn't let their Big 10 opponent intimidate them as they answered Michigan's FG with a touchdown. Rutgers' M.Thompson (1att 8yds 1TD) raced in from 8 yards out to give them a 7-3 lead. Forcing a Michigan punt on their next possession the Scarlet Knights' offense went marching again. This time an impressive drive fizzled inside the Michigan red zone and they would have to settle for a 30 yard FG by C.Newberry. Newberry's FG put Rutgers ahead 10-3 and had the home crowd rocking. The Wolverines quickly picked themselves off the mat as V.Smith (22att 110yds 2TD) capped a quick drive with an 18 yard scamper to knot the game at 10 midway thru the second quarter. Both defenses would cool down the hot offenses and looked to go into halftime knotted at 10 but a Rutgers fumble late in the half gave Michigan a momentum boost heading into the locker room. With 8 seconds left in the first half T.Forcier (11/25 218yds 1TD 0INT) found R.Roundtree (4rec 44yds 1TD) for a 23 yard score to give the Wolverines a 17-10 lead heading into the break.Rutgers would draw first blood in the second half, late in the third quarter, as K.Stroud (2rec 69yds 1TD) caught a 54 yard TD pass from S.Shimko (21/33 323yds 1TD 0INT) to tie the ballgame at 17. Michigan's B.Gibbons would knock in a 34 yard FG at the 3rd quarter horn to give the Wolverines a 20-17 lead heading into the fourth. The fourth quarter belonged to the Wolverines as their depth seemed to be too much for the Scarlet Knights. Both defenses played stingy defense in the final quarter but Michigan's offense was able to wear down the Rutgers' defense as they would put up 10 points in the final two minutes of the game to pull away, capped by V.Smith's 4 yard TD run with 47 seconds left.Next week the Wolverines travel to South Bend to take on rival Notre Dame and coach Drunken. The series (NCAA '11) is tied at 1-1.Coach Notes:Michigan WRs dropped 4 for sure first downs/TDs in the game.... Sophmore J.Robinson stole the recieving show as he caught 4 balls for 107 yards... Michigan's defensive line dominated Rutgers all game.... defensive ends D.Davis and K.Wilkins combined for 8 TFLs, 11 tackles, 4 sacks, and one fumble recovery.... defensive tackle W.Campbell had 2 tackles, 1 sack, 1TFL, and two fumble recoveriesHightlights can be found here: http://www.easports.com/dynasty#mod...BA95B9&dynid=75170&sku=661A0001&sid=2&wknum=0
Auburn 21 at #5 Stanford 14
Great way to start the season for Auburn, beating the #5 team in the country on their home field. Auburn took control early, scoring on their first drive, and then never relinquishing the lead.
Junior QB Clint Moseley, played very effectively. As Auburn's offense relies heavily on the ground game, Moseley was not asked to do too much. He connected with WR Antonio Goodwin on a slant route for a 10 yard TD on their first drive of the game, and then later with Travante Stallworth on a 42 yard post pattern.
The defense expected a dogfight from a Stanford offense that has a lot of weapons. But they never got it. A talented offensive line combined with a stud RB in Kenjon Barner posed a dangerous threat to Auburn's defense, but Stanford elected to attack through the air. Stanford was held scoreless at halftime, and the only TD they scored came on a blown coverage for a long TD pass to WR Jemari Roberts very late in the 4th quarter. Two other drives resulted in FG's, but all in all a very good performance from an Auburn defense that lost several starters, including three in the secondary.
Auburn Key Stats:
- no defender had more than 3 tackles
- 79% converting third downs
- McCalebb/Dyer 34 rushes for 112 yards and 1 TD
Stanford Key Stats:
- 8 different players with a reception
- lost time of possession by more than 6 minutes
- 31 passes versus 13 rushes
Play of the game:
Travante Stallworth taking advantage of a linebacker covering him.
#1 Ohio State Buckeyes vs Utah
The Utah Utes invaded a rainyand sloppy horse shoe in columbus ohio saturday, and nearly sent the Buckeye faithfull home as dreary as the wether was. Both teams looked pretty sloppy in the first quarter. The Utes managed to get the ball deep in OSU territory before Freshman corner J. Noble made his first major impact in a Buckeye uniform Stepping in front of a J. Wynn pass.
The Buckeye offense just coulnt get anything going and the first quarter ended scoreless. The Buckeyes came out and pounded the ball to start the 2nd and it worked as sophmore TB R. Smith gashed the utes for big yardage. Before scoring from 2 yards out. Utah would answer right back with a TD of their own and we had ourselves a game. The Buckeyes would hold utah down inside their own 2 forcing a punt. When frehman J. Noble made his first big mistake as a buckeye.
Muffing the punt. Utah would recover the fumble and take advantage of the turover scoring on a 48 yard TD pass to K. Scott. Coach Buckeye said after the game"dont worry that wont happen agin because Jeremy wont be back there, we have plenty of guys who can run back kicks. And the TD pass that was my fault I took possesion of Ohrian's body and F****ed up bad...so blame me for that too". We are still not sure what he meant by that. The Buckeyes were trailing 14 to 7 with just over 20 seconds left when C. Fields got behind the secondary and hauled in a 64 yard TD pass from freshman B. Dawson. Halftime score all tied at 14 a piece.
Ohio State would come out in the second and score on thier first drive as R. Smith scored his second TD of the game. Utah would go scoreless in the third. Ohio State continued to move the ball but each time they would get in utah territory the drives would stall forcing the buckeyes to punt instaed of kick over 50 yard FGs. Much to the dismay of booing buckeye fans. Utah finnally made them pay converting three 4th down and longs and finnally scoring on a 8 yd TD pass with 42 seconds left. Appearing to send the game into overtime..but J. Jackson had other ideas racing 103 yards untouched for the TD...
We are kinda lucky to get outa here with a win said coach buckeye after the game....if we dont learn how to close games out its gonna bite us in the arse...
Good games and summaries. I can feel the excitement already.
Notre Dame would start the year off against rival Purdue, The Irish offense was in fine form early after punting on there first possession ND would score on there next 4, all passing TD's Dayne Crist would hook up with Shaq Evans for a 4 yd and 64 yd TD, then hook up with Theo Riddick for 67 yd TD and the hit Tailer Jones for a 20 yd strike before the half. The Irish defense got a few stops early but would give up a late TD along with A pick 6 to put the score at halftime 27-14.The Irish would come out the 2nd half and have a nice drive that would be capped off by a Cierre Wood 1 yd TD run to give Notre Dame a 34-14, from there The Irish offense would go dormant getting penalties and just not making plays, The BoilerMakers would battle bcak with a couple of score to get it close but it was too little to late.Dayne Crist 481 yds passing 4 TD's 1 INTShaq Evans 183 yds recieving 2 TD'sThe Riddick 124 yds recieving 1 TD
Every game turned out to be a good one.... see, good teams are not going to lay down.... next year I think we should get true cupcakes to start the season.... and good summaries as well.... the season is off and now we know its going to be a fight to raise that crystal
Illini beat EMU 31-8. Scheelhaase was 11-21 217yds 2td 15att 72yds in his season opener. Illini are 1-0. Illinois has a loss next week to Boise St coming. This may end up being the Last season for Coach Ndcolts1979
OSU gets a beat down from clemson....ND are you just leaving Illinois or are you done? lol
#8 Clemson upsets #1 Ohio State at homeClemson came into this game server underdogs despite being ranked 8th in the nation. What propelled the Tiger's to victory? Ohio State's mistakes. tOSU QB Byron Dawson threw 4 interceptions compared to Clemson's 0 turnovers. One of Dawson's INT was right before half time giving the Tiger's position in the redzone to score right before the half ended. They did so, going up 24-10 and after that we just held on for the win."It was our first big win. Sure, South Carolina last year was big for us but to knock off the defending National Champions in my first full year on the job is really sweet. I'm so proud of these guys" - Coach PawGood game ben, I got super lucky on some of those picks and on the option for the TD to secure the victory. I know if we played 10 times that you would win 9 of them. Well played, and good luck the rest of the season.
Nice win Paw.
Yep gg paw..looking forward to the rematch in columbus ...I did like the sliders alot though..if you throw a bad pass its a pic..trust me lol
Probably going to be done
Good win Paw, really didn't expect you to knock off the Buckeyes but sho' glad you did... Chaos season is starting early this year...
Go to Penn State so you remain in the conference and actually have a chance to win some recruiting battles.
#17 Oklahoma 13at#22 Auburn 31The Auburn student section willed their home team to a dominating performance against a really tough opponent, Oklahoma. OU's offense, led by senior QB Landry Jones (99 OVR), has tons of weapons and a lot of speed that I expected to cause problems. But Auburn's defense played a hell of a game, especially the defensive line which had 4 sacks. Each team's offense punted on their opening possession, and on OU's second possession, Landry Jones threw his only interception of the game and gave Auburn great field position that resulted in a TD reception for Jeremy Richardson. OU's next drive proved costly, as Auburn's defense forced a fumble that was returned for a TD. 14-0 Auburn, both TD's within 1:30. OU answered early in the second quarter, but Auburn's offense continued to move the ball and tacked on another 10 points before halftime. 24-7 at home team.Michael Dyer scored on a 21 yard TD run in the third quarter, and all but sealed the deal for Auburn. Ontarrio McCalebb left the game with an injury, but should be back for week 3. Auburn had no problem finishing the game without him, and pulled out a really solid victory against a very talented team.
Auburn Key Stats:- TSharvan Bell - 9 tackles and a fumble recovery for a TD- 70% on 3rd downs- McCalebb and Dyer each had a 20+ yard TD run...a sign things are working for AuburnOklahoma Key Stats:- Brennan Clay - 8 catches for 107 yards- Landry Jones 21/29, 266 yards, 2 TD's 1 int- gained more total yards than AuburnPlay of the game:Defense makes a huge, game changing play
Boise upsets LSU in the death valley 28-7. This game was a coming out show for the Broncos defense who's fighting for respect. Forcing 5 total turnovers 3 fumbles and and 2 int, but 2 of thos fubles came in the redzone on the 2 yard line and another as the qb ran into the endzone. The third taken place on a KR which was recovered on or about the 20 yard line. The two int's came from great man coverage by young cb Barnes playing slot cb and the other by starting first year safety Makinde. LSU stud defense did force my soph qb to throw one int along with his solo td. Offensive side of the ball both teams stand out in there own category. LSU had the most yards total offense with 351 and Boise 265. Boise went 5/9 55% on third down and LSU 2/6 33% along with the redzone. Boise 1/1 and Tigers 1/4 25% which really hurt them in the long run. Overall gg Maximus and we will meet again next year in the blue smurfs barn haha.

#12 @ #13South Bend, Indiana- Dayne Crist's line: 18/33 425 yards and 4 touchdowns. With that type of line you'd think the Wolverine defense was the goat on Saturday. If that was your first thought after seeing that you'd be wrong as the Wolverine defense was simply dominant at the time and Crist has the "Jordan" effect going for him, he's going to get his regardless. Michigan's defense forced 5 turnovers, 4 Crist interceptions, and sacked the Heisman hopeful 5 times to beat their hated rival 45-31 on Saturday.Michigan's Vincent Smith, who left later in the game with an injury, got things started early as he punched it in from 3 yards out to give Michigan an early 7 point lead. On the Irish's following drive Crist would throw his first interception of the day and the Wolverine offense would capitalize once again. Smith (6att 55yds 2TD) would scamper in from 38 yards out to give the Wolverines a 14-0 lead and silenced the rowdy Irish crowd.Crist would turn the ball over again on the Irish's next drive and the Wolverines were able to tack on another 3 points. Early in the second quarter and the Wolverines were in complete control with a 17-0 lead. The Irish offense would regain their composure and Crist would find D.Maxwell from 14 yards out to cut into the Wolverine lead.On the Wolverines next drive Smith would go down and Fitgerald Toussaint would enter the game. Toussaint would make his mark quickly as he trotted in from 15 yards out to give the Wolverines a 24 point first half. The Irish would knock in a FG at the first half horn to limp into the lockerroom down 24-10.The Irish would give themselves hope as right out of the gate the Irish offense started moving. Crist would find T.Jones on a beautiful double move route from 34 yards out to cut the Wolverine lead to 7, 24-17.After that score it became F.Toussaint's (16att 290yds 3TD) show. Toussaint would take the air out of the crowd with a 90 yard run to give the Wolverines their comfortble lead back. After the Michigan defense forced another Notre Dame punt, the Wolverines were once again backed up inside their own 10 yard line. If his 90 yard run just moments prior weren't good enough for some Toussaint would try to garner those votes again. The running back raced 91 yards right up the gut to give the Wolverines a commanding 38-17 second half lead. Both of Toussaint's 90 yard runs happened on the first play of both drives. Notre Dame would answer before the quarter ended but the momentum clearly belonged to the Wolverines. Both teams would tack on 4th quarter TDs with a 23 yard touchdown reception by S.Evans closing out the scoring late in the 4th. Final Score: Michigan 45 Notre Dame 31Coach Notes:Coach JerzeyReign improved to 2-1 versus Coach Drunken's Fighting Irish.... Toussaint's performance was Michigan's best rushing performance since D.Robinson's 190 yard rushing day against the Irish in 2010.... Toussaint's 91 yard rush set a school record.... Tate Forcier only completed 5-12 passes but did not have a turnover... All 6 of Michigan's touchdowns came on the ground... Michigan DE D.Davis continued his early season assault on quarterback's as he recorded 3 sacks for the second consecutive week.Next week the Wolverines play host as Florida (0-1,0-0) comes to Ann Arbor. This will be the first matchup between Coach JerzeyReign and Coach Mr2Bits since Coach Reign left Tennessee. Coach 2Bits leads the series 2-1 with Coach JerzeyReign getting the last victory in the series.
Post in here when your done
You too man... did you save that 34 yard touchdown pass? I was literally lookin' at that pass for 20 minutes. That was the prettiest locomtion usage I've seen in this game, it looked so realistic. I thought it was a pick or something out there but when I looked at in slow motion my defender opened his hips the wrong way and was completely fooled by a double move. Bits took advantage of that same guy during our game, I think I need to hide that guy before he becomes a target
Good Luck the rest of the year, I'm pretty sure that passing game of yours will not be slowed down at all.
FSU SNEAKS BY THE SPARTANS!
#5 vs #10
The Florida St. Seminoles traveled north to East Lansing, Michigan to face a good Michigan St. Spartan team. The Noles had trouble adjusting to their new offense and it showed all game long as FSU trailed the entire game until the final minutes of the game. FSU new starting QB, Marcus Adams, completed 22 of 35 passes for 372yds, but threw four ints on the day. The running game was none existent as the Noles combined for a meager 27yds on 17 attempts. The one bright spot of the game for the Seminoles would have to be WR Willie Haulstead, who hauled in (no pun intended) 11 receptions for 201yds on the day. The win improves FSU to 1-0 on the season. Next week, Florida St. plays host to conference foe Boston College in an early season ACC matchup.
Michigan St.: 20
Defensive Showcase: #8 Michigan Holds off Florida 10-7
Ann Arbor, MI- Offense sells tickets, defense wins championship. If someone would of took that phrase literally this Saturday their wouldn't of been anyone in the stands for this chess match. Two championship caliber defenses took the field in the Big House on Saturday with the Wolverines' defense doing just enough to come out on top of this one 10-7.The Gators looked to turn this into a sprint early on marching without much resisitance into Wolverine territory on their first possession. But with Florida threatning Michigan forced its first great play of the day. Florida's HB Mike Gillislee (8att 91yds 0TD) was stripped on the Michigan 35 yard line killing Florida's opening drive. Michigan would be unable to capitalize on the miscue as the opening quarter would end in a 0-0 draw.Florida would open the second quarter up with some fireworks. Florida QB Trey Burton (10/20 142yds 0TD 1INT) would use the Gator Heavy offense to his benefit as he punched it in from 3 yards out to give the Gators a 7-0 lead. Michigan would answer with a B.Gibbons (1/2 52Long) FG on their next possession before both defenses put the cuffs on both offenses for the rest of the half. Michigan went into the locker room down for the first time this year, 7-3.Both offenses would continue to struggle after the break before Michigan's offense got going late in the 3rd period. Michigan's Vincent Smith (23att 92yds 1TD) would squeeze in from 1 yard out to give Michigan a 10-7 lead late in the 3rd quarter. The fourth quarter would be filled with missed opprotunities from both sides. Michigan would push a FG wide right that could of stretched the lead to 6 early in the fourth. Florida would drive down to the Michigan 31 yard line but Coach 2Bits didn't feel his kicker had enough leg from that distance and gambled on a 4th and long. Burton's pass into the endzone would be knocked down with just over 2 minutes left in the game. Florida would get one more final drive but a Burton pass would be picked off by linebacker Kenny Demens to seal the Michigan victory.Michigan's next game will be against SEC member Georgia before heading off into conference play. This is Michigan's second 3-0 start under Coach JerzeyReign in three seasons. Coach Jerzey and Coach 2Bits career record is now even at 2-2.Great Game Bits. Hopefully "Tebow Two" develops alittle bit for you so you can get rolling again. See you next year in the Swamp.
Virginia Tech Hokies @ #3 USC Trojans
Tech knew that in order to win this game they needed to establish the run game and stop the big passing play abilities of USC. On the first drive for USC it appeared that the Hokies were going to struggle against the highly effective passing attack of Matt Barkley and company who drove the ball with ease in the first quarter.
Thankfully the defense hanged tough after giving up an early touchdown to DJ Morgan on a 12 yard run. On this first drive USC looked very impressive squeezing out a lot of time and being very proficient in getting first downs. The Hokies went 3 and out failing to convert a 3rd and 5.
The second qtr the Hokies were finally able to minimize some of the Trojan passing attack with pressure up the middle. On the next Tech offensive series they were finally able to get some first downs and drive the ball down the field with quick passes and power run football. SR RB Ryan Williams was able to capitalize on this drive with a 12 yard TD run. USC would answer back with another long drive and TD with 2 mins left in the game. Tech came up short and was forced to punt with 1 min 20 secs left before the half. USC tried to get some more points and fell victim to the Bud Foster pressure defense giving up a huge interception with 1 minute before the half and only 45 yards to the endzone.
The Hokies capitalize on the field position with the hurry up offense and a 4 yard TD pass from SR QB J.Clayton to R.Williams with only 16 secs remaining on the clock.
The second half Tech utilied the momentum gained from the previous qtr and executed their gameplan to perfection. R.Williams touched the ball over 20 times and really clamped down on USC's Barkley and company.
GG Tubb! I was on the edge of my seat until late 4th qtr.
