Last year these two squads met in week 1 and the game was a thrilling overtime contest. LSU prevailed 22-19 on a leaping TD by Kenneth Harley to secure the victory. This year's affair did not have the same kind of dramatic finish. The Huskers turned the ball over on their first drive on an INT by CB Terrell Harrell. That led to an Aaron Luke 45 yard FG, which was followed up by a short TD pass to WR D.J. Hampton for an early 10-0 lead. The LSU defense played well for much of the game but Nebraska's K Ben Jefferson was 0/2 in the hostile environment. His nerves certainly helped the Tigers cause. LSU FR(RS) HB Ryan Atkins was pressing a bit early. He tried to make a play with a stiff arm but ended up fumbling the ball away. It was returned 18 yards for a score, cutting the LSU advantage to 10-7. 3 more Jon Welsh TD passes gave the Tigers a cushion that they would not relinquish. The most impressive toss was the fade to WR D.J. Hampton, pictured above. Atkins (18 Att, 91 Yards, 1 TD) found the end zone in the 4th qtr., allowing him to make up for the earlier fumble. A garbage time TD by the Huskers was merely window dressing.Perhaps worse than the loss of the game by Nebraska is the fact that starting QB Jay Ingram ruptured a disk in his back and is expected to miss 11 weeks. The hard hitting LSU D also knocked QB Chris Simmons out for half of the game, but he came back in and played well towards the end. Nebraska will need to lean heavily on him for the vast majority of the season.
Texas survives and goes to 1-0 on the year
#18 Michigan Starts Season With A BangMichigan Clobbers Eastern Michigan 49-20 in Ann ArborAnn Arbor, MI- The #18 Michigan Wolverines started this season right where they left off last season, with a blowout victory. The Wolverines overwhelmed the Eagles of Eastern Michigan 49-20 in front of a packed Big House. This game was never in doubt as the talent gap between these two schools was too much for the Eagles to overcome. True Freshman Joe Dixon looked 'ready' in his first game under center as he went 13/16 for 241 yards with 2 touchdowns. The frosh only made one mistake of the day, an interception on the Wolverines first drive.Heisman hopeful Clarence Williams played well in limited action as he surpassed the 100 yard mark on limited carries (13att 109 yards) adding 3 short touchdowns to his early season stats. All American WR Ray Patterson also had a very good day as he snatched 6 balls for 126 yards. His partner in crime, James Oliver, grabbed 4 passes for 84 yards and a score. The starting Michigan defense played well, not allowing a score on the day. All of Eastern Michigan's 20 points and majority of their yards were against the second string. #18 Michigan improves to 1-0 on the season and travels to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take on the Cowboys of Oklahoma State.
WVU wins season opener 45-31West Virginia starts the season off with a close win over michigan state. offensively the mountaineers played great but there are some worries about this years defense. The defense could not seem to stop the michigan state offense but came up big on the last play of the game -- sacking the QB and forcing a fumble that was returned for a touchdown.Senior QB Jeremy Gray continued where he left off last year airing it out for 416 yards and 5 touchdowns. Sophomore Joe Carter caught 12 passes for 172 yards and 3 TD and Mark Mayhew carried the ball 12 times for 64 yards.
Bears Maul the Broncos!
We came in as the underdogs The broncos were Heavily favored, but football isn't played on paper and We came Out to Play 4 quarters of football , that we did.We started the game With a 3 and out on defense and on offense We moved the ball like water through a faucet With Z Thompson at the Helm.First drive was a score....second a score...Long story short they didnt get on the board until 10 seconds before halftime, and never got on after that.Cal would go on to pull off the upset win 38-7.
After halftime On Thompson second series he was knocked out of the game.He was later diagnosed with a severe Back strain,He will Miss 7 weeks(F**K).He left the game going 9 of 12 129 yards on the day no tds or ints.C Tate came in And went 5 of 7 75 yards.J Smith had a great day on the ground rushing 17 times for a 127 yards and 4tds.Another notable injury happen sometime in the 1st quarter,E Fraser FS hes gone for 3 weeks,True Freshman Rodgers Took over his spot early in the game and played great.
Our Young Secondary lost 2 players In the First half But one came back In second,That being said i felt we played a great game defensively.
Next up we have The Longhorns ,Both E Fraser is Doubtful for that game and Thompson is out. Tate will get the start at QB and Broussard the true freshman will back him up.

#17 Michigan Quiets Rowdy Stillwater CrowdWolverines Dominate Every Aspect In 23-6 VictoryStillwater, OK- The 17th ranked Michigan Wolverines went into Stillwater and did what few teams accomplish... tame the rowdy crowd. The Wolverines used stifling defense and a balanced offensive attack to defeat the Cowboys 23-6 on Saturday. Wolverines' freshman QB Joe Dixon managed the game well even without mind blowing stats (6/13 144yds 2TD 1INT). The Wolverine coaching staff decided to take the ball out of the frosh's hands during his first big road game of his career. Instead the Wolverines relied heavily on a solid rushing attack. Clarence Williams gained 77 yards on 16 carries before leaving early in the second half with a bruised elbow. Second string tailback Bryce Bennett stepped in and performed up and carried the load beautifully gaining 85 yards on 14 carries including converting a huge third down late to seal the game. With limited opportunities All American Ray Patterson snagged two passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns. James Oliver led the WR corps with 3 receptions. Numerous defenders made plays for the defense as four Wolverine defenders tallied 4 solo tackles.Next week the Wolverines (2-0,0-0) have another huge matchup as they travel to Louisiana to take on the Bayou Bengals.
*Sorry about no game highlights/pics... I ran out of room to save highlights... gotta go delete some things ASAP
@Highyella - I want to make sure you understand the point spreads because you said Boise was heavily favored. The spread was Cal -9.5 which means you were favored by 9.5 points.
Buckeyes beat up little brother...
Ohio State 27- Ohio 0
The Buckeyes played the Ohio Bobcats in the "Shoe" last weekend and looked impressive in the first game of the season. Ohio State jumped out to a 14-0 lead on an A. Smith TD run and a 68 yard R. Brewster TD reception. Ohio State would add on two more TDs before the end of the half, and mop up duty ensued. The story of the day was the Buckeye defense who held the Bobcats too 27 yards on the ground and just 185 through the air. The Bobcats threatened the Bucks only twice, getting in the redzone a couple times. However, only to be denied both times. Next up for the Buckeyes, they travel to the swamp in the Big 10, SEC challenge
#19 Florida earns redemption against #3 Ohio State
It was a tough week for Florida. The Gators were coming off one of the worse losses in school history to Syracuse, only to face the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes in the first leg of the SEC / Big Ten Challenge. The game started well for Florida, as Joe Allen took this option in or an early lead:
But the Buckeyes would counter quickly behind the arm of Jonathan Moore:
7-7, 1st quarter in The Swamp
Florida would score again on a Clarence Webster run, and then get a huge break as Ohio State would fumble the kickoff with 6 seconds left, leading to a Gator FG. 17-7 at the half. But coach Ben would of course have an answer:
SCREEN! TD OSU! 17-14
The Gators would respond with 10 points to close out the 3rd wit a 27-14 lead, but the Bucks were not done yet:
Sonny Johnson goes 89 yard to the HIZOUSE to cut Florida's lead to 6, 27-21
The Gators, however, would get another big play from Allen and Webster to close it out:
Florida catches Ohio State in a blitz off the edge and Allen hits Webster for the score. The Gators would get the 2 pt conversion for a 35-21 win.
SEC 1 Big Ten 0
no Corso and Herbstriet both were for boise
Texas loses to West Virgina, as the ball hawk Boondock makes mad plays including 4 INT's all of the user variety. he can give you guys the details. GG BoonDock
Gotcha. They don't watch much film.
Oklahoma turns over game to Auburn 45-24
Oklahoma came into week 2 looking to make an early season splash and defeat a top 25 team for only the 3rd time in Coach Ticketp1's tenure. However, 8 turnovers later and 2 returned for TDs, the Sooners once again bowed out against the #22 ranked Auburn Tigers.
The game turned in Auburn's favor early on in the 2nd qtr. Down 7-0, the Sooners put together a nice drive behind a couple good runs from QB Roderick Edwards and RB Jimmy Gutierrez. However, Gutierrez would cough up the ball on the Auburn 11 after about a 7 yard gain and Auburn MLB Andrew Scott would scoop and score for an 89 yd. return. The Sooners would bounce back and drive down inside the Auburn 15, but had to settle for a 37 yd. field goal and a 14-3 defecit. The scoring would continue in the 2nd qtr. when Auburn drove down the field and RB Jeff Stewart took a plunge into the endzone from 2 yds. out for the 21-3 lead. The Sooners would bounce back and Roderick Edwards would lead the team down and connect with WR Richie Nichols for a 17 yd. TD and cut the lead to 21-10. Needing a stop to get back in the game, the Oklahoma defense did exactly the opposite and allowed the Tigers to drive right back down the field and score on a 54 yd. TD pass from QB Paris Anderson to Justin Adams and the 28-10 lead. The Sooners would answer once more when Edwards hooked up with J.J. Brown on a 19 yd. pass and cut the lead to 28-17 heading into the locker room.
Coach Ticketp1 talked about the first half, "To many turnovers. Our RBs have to hang onto the ball if they want to play. I'll go to a 5 wide set all night long and throw it 60 times a game like I did tonight if it gives us the best chance to win. I don't want to have to do that, but we turned the ball over way to much last year and won't do that shit this year. The defense didn't play very well in the 1st half and we must play better to win."
The 3rd qtr. was very quiet as neither team would score any points. The Sooners would fumble the ball and throw an interception to bring their game total to 5, but they were still right in the game until the beginning of the 4th qtr. After a big 3rd down stand, the Sooners would force a punt and were looking to a score and get back in the game. Once again, the turnover bug bit the Sooners when CB Moore fumbled the punt and an Auburn player picked it up and returned it for a 48 yd. TD and a 35-17 lead. This fumble really took the wind out of the sails for the Sooners and pretty much destroyed their will to win. Auburn would add two more TDs and Roderick Edward would add a 61 yd. TD rush for the Sooners to end the scoring at Auburn 45 - Oklahoma 24.
Coach Ticketp1 talked more about the game, "Even though he threw 4 INTs, QB Roderick Edwards played really well for us. He was a lot more accurate than last year, but just needs to make sure he gets his feet set on all his throws. I was so pissed off at our RBs that I stopped giving them the ball and put the game into Edwards hands. I don't want to ever throw the ball 60 times again, but the fumbling was going to stop one way or another. Hopefully we'll take care of the ball better next game and can get a Win."
The Sooners are on a bye this week and face Cincinnati next week.
Florida gets the virtual dick punch, loses to Syracuse 40-35.
What can I say, Syracuse played way above their ratings on offense. There were times when my DBs just stood there while open receivers ran past them. We played well enough on offense and had a chance to win, but back-up QB Rashaun Washington's pass was broken up with :00 on the clock. Tough loss.
#13 Florida wins a war with #12 Tennessee, 31-28
Coach 2Bits has lost once in his tenure to the hated Vols; it nearly became twice in this game.
The Gators looked good on the opening drive, led effectively by Joe Allen and Clarence Webster, until...
Tennessee gets a 90 yard pick 6 to take the lead! FML!
Florida would add a FG, but the Vols would surge to a 21-3 lead with under 2:00 to go in the half. This game was looking eerily similar to the 2013 game in Knoxville. Florida needed a score, and quick:
Allen hooks up with Paul Woodard to the score. 21-10
On the ensuing kickoff, coach 2Bits would help his team out by forcing a USER BIG HIT fumble for a scoop and score (replay not available). 21-17
The Gators would do all they could to lose this game in the 4th quarter:
This turnover put Florida in a bad spot, as the Vols would score to take a 28-24 lead.
With the Gators driving with under 2:00 minutes to play, Garrett Hall came up with the play of the day on 4th down:
Later in the drive, Joe Allen finished the Vols:
Boston College vs FSU
Tallahassee- The Seminoles win their ACC opener against the Eagles of Boston College in Doak Wlaker Stadium. Florida St. would get on the board first, second, third and fourth to take a commanding 28 point lead at halftime. QB, Alan Mays was in rare form as he completed 15 of his 18 passing attempts all in the first half. Due the one sided affair, Caoch Forever pulled the starters for the remainder of the game to see what he had in his younger talent because as he knows first hand, someone could easily go down and it would be nice to know what your working with. HB Johnny Adams got first crack to see what he could. He ran pretty well in the contest, but was injured late in the 3rd qtr and wouldn't return. His particpation for next weeks game is doubtful. So in comes true freshman HB, Roger Malone. Malone wowed the crowd with his lightning fast cuts and spin moves. He also showed signs of speed as he carried the ball only 7 times, but rushed for a game high 139yds including a 49yd burst middway through the 4th. The win gives FSU 2 on the young season with a short road trip to Coral Gables on the docket for next week.
Cincinnati 36 Minnesota 33
The Bearcats were down 0-20 in the 2nd quarter before they woke up, buckled down on D and played football........... After they pushed through all the unrealistic holding penalties that call back at least 1 TD per game. At least this game the calls came in the 1st quarter as opposed to crunch time. A 22 point 3rd quarter explosion was to thank engineered by QB Charles Gold, accounting for 3 TDs. The D is putrid this year and if Cinci has any hope they need to control the clock on O to keep the D off the field and not turn the ball over. They simply cannot afford to give the ball away with that C defense. In a couple of years there will be a lot of experience on the defensive side of the ball......lot of underclassman seeing playing time
Erasing All Doubts
Now that's the way to start the season off right.
Tallahassee- The Noles played a pretty sound game, both offensively and defensively to get a convincing win against a good Bearcat team. FSU would get on the score board first with a 48yd pass and catch from Alan Mays to newcomer WR, Donovan Mullins, FSU would lead 7-0.
Not to be outdone, the Bearcats went right to work, specifically with the running game as it took only 2 plays to reach pay dirt. Cincy's HB, Matt Willis would break a couple of tackles and outrun the rest of the Noles defenders to tie the game at 7 after 1.
The next qtr would see an offensive and defensive explosion as the offense would score 17 points off of 2 Bearcat turnovers to extend their lead to 24-7 at the half.
Both defenses would play well in the second half as neither team would score in the third. FSU would get an early 4 qtr td and late field goal to preserve the win.
#4 West Virginia takes out #1 USCA rematch from last seasons rose bowl game took place on the other side of the country this year. Morgantown was on fire as the Mountaineers hosted the number 1 team in the country. After struggling in california during their last matchup, West Virginia looked to compete with a team that blew them out last year. Holding the nations longest home winning streak (17 games), the fans packed the stadium and made their presence felt throughout the night.WVU recieved the opening kickoff and struck quickly with a 60 yard touchdown from Gray to Carter. On the ensuing kickoff USC would fumble and WVU would return it for a touchdown to go up 14-0. USC would get the ball but make the mistake of going after all american corner Cam Woodson. Woodson would intercept USC on an overthrow and put the mountaineers in good field position. The offense would capatalize and go up 21-0."Coach made us watch so much film from that last game. He told us if we were gonna stop one play it was gonna be singleback trips Seattle. We watched that play over and over this week and it helped out big time." Woodson played outstanding against the usc wide recievers and would pick off another pass right before halftime which allowed WVU to extend their lead to 34-3 at halftime. With the game decided both teams would go through the motions in the 2nd half with the final score ending at 47-17. With the win West Virginia improves to 3-0 and will hopefully claim the #1 ranking next week.http://www.easports.com/dynasty?_us...C370B3&dynid=75170&sku=661A0001&sid=6&wknum=2GG bigtubb
Mountaineers win in Austin 38-27With efficiency at the QB position and turnovers from its defense the mountaineers take out the #4 team in the country. The game didnt look to well for the mountaineers early as their offensive line looked lost. The WVU line would allow 7 sacks today with the majority of them coming from the right side. "i've never seen anything like that, its like our guys dont wanna block. We'll get that fixed" Coach Boone commented about his offensive line at halftime. The mountaineers were down 13-7 at that point but came out firing in the third quarter scoring 21 unanswered points. With a few minutes left in the game the defense slipped up twice allowing 2 long texas touchdowns which ended the game with a score of 38-27.GG Drunken
