    BCS National Championship Game Preview

The National Championship game will take place tonight between two very deserving teams, the Ohio State Buckeyes versus the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Ohio State's spot in the title game was determined weeks ago behind an 11-1 regular season record and the Big Ten championship. Nebraska's path to this game was a bit more rockier and they needed some help. After a heartbreaking late game loss to the Longhorns in Lincoln, the Huskers rebounded with six consecutive wins to close out the regular season. This set the stage for a classic rivalry to be renewed once again when #5 Nebraska would face #6 Oklahoma for the Big XII title. This looked as if it was going to be a daunting task for the Blackshirts to stop Oklahoma's offense behind Heisman winning RB DeMarco Murray. But as we've grown accustomed to Coach Pelini had his defense prepared to handle the task at hand. They limited Oklahoma to only 14 points, well below their season average. After the dust had settled, Nebraska would be crowned Big XII champs with their sights set on a BCS bowl game. Which bowl game that would be was not clear until the SEC championship game was played. In what is sure to be an instant classic, Florida was able to upset Alabama and help punch Nebraska's ticket to the BCS National Championship game.

Yet, what was is now all behind us and we set our sights on the game tonight. While there will be some teams (Alabama, TCU, etc.) unhappy with who is playing in the game tonight that's irrelevant, tonight's game will determine who will be crowned National Champion. Both teams are full of tradition, perhaps unrivaled in college football. They are two of the Top 5 winningest programs in college football history (Nebraska - #4, Ohio State - #5) and each look to add to that history tonight.

Ohio State will look to their stud quarterback, Terelle Pryor, to make it happen tonight. This dual threat QB has the tools necessary to get it done both through the air and with his legs. A few years ago, a similar QB, Vince Young, used a stellar performance in the Rose Bowl to propel his team to the National title the following year. Can Pryor do the same? He was very impressive last year against Oregon in the Rose Bowl and is now only a game away from being crowned champion.

While, the Cornhuskers lack the star power of the Buckeyes they make up for it with their play as a team. They boast one of the stronger defensive units in the nation and lead the country in rushing. It was this combination that got them here and it will be this combination that they will rely on to win it all.

Whichever way this game pans out, it's sure to be a good one.
