Promises might not be working and in certain scenarios show you didn't backup a promise when you did.

I promised a few recruits that I would have a winning record against my rivals. I DID have a winning record against my rivals and all of those promises were BROKEN. WTF? Major glitch in the game.

Pretty sure it isn't a random thing. This happened to every user team in my dynasty.

    ^^^ From the OS thread.

that happened to my favorite TE. Told him he would see playing time and he had like 30 rec and 5 tds and transferred to Purdue(helli).

He would later burn my ass a few times.

    Jordan Briggs..........fuck you Helli!

    LOL.

I liked blockers at TE, so unfortunately (although he did have a big touchdown grab against you and one against Mo in the title game we played) he pretty much rotted on the bench for me. In our last game against each other in the 2009 version of the game, he didn't get off the pine. Had a lot of splinters in that ass.

do we just want to say "no promises"? they were always kind of sketchy anyway.

It would really reduce our advantage against the cpu teams, which I think is a good thing. They already kind of don't go after the new recruits very hard... They don't seem to ever use promises themselves, in the first place. I'd be happy about a rule like this since it's so simple (people can't complain that the rule is too complex, like some of the rules out there), and it's extremely easy for the commish to verify if he suspects somebody didn't abide by the rules.

When we say be careful about promises cant they only work against you? You may get the guy but he will transfer down the road if you promise something you cant keep even when you keep your promise.

Im fine with no promises but was just wondering why when they would work against the guy offering them.

Good point I suppose. We need to decide either way by the time the offseason rolls around, eh.

The only reason I think (in the end) we should allow them is because it has served our league well not having restrictions. And promises are designed to get quick interest in the offseason which is crucial sometimes. And this way if a guy you want signs with somebody else after week 2, you at least have a shot at getting a backup option by making him a promise...
