    Big 12 Championship Storylines/Recap

    Storylines

    1. Will Daniel Thomas be able to play?
Coach VICTORIES: "We sure hope so. We held him out of practice this week and he is still a game time decision. We sure hope he can go."

    2. This is a tale of 2 totally different styles. Texas Tech comes in bolstering the #1 rated pass offense while Kansas St. has the #5 rush offense. The Kansas St defense has given up some passing yards this season forced teams to turn the ball over and the offense has done a great job of not turning the ball over. They come into the game with the 6th best turnover differential in the nation. The Wildcat Defensive Coordinator is hoping his DBs can make some plays with Tech slinging it around so much. Kansas St has the 2nd best 3rd down conversion percentage in the nation converting 50%.

So going into this game both teams were very evenly matched and after each side had its first set of downs it looked to be what the experts predicted. But at the beginning of the second quarter Potts(QB) decides to go and get himself hurt.

It was all down hill from here. Sheffield stepped in only to throw 2 crucial ints and blow the game. Sheffield did really well carrying his team down the field with a hurry up offense each time reaching the redzone and each time throwing it away.

During the last 5 mins of the 4th quarter, coach Ruinic decided he had enough and retired to the locker room. Hopefully this isnt an omen for the bowl game to follow in the near future.

Hats off to Kansas St. for the continuous run offense, TX Tech was surely not prepared to stop the beastly running back from reaching the outside play after play.

Kansas St. defeats Texas Tech 30-3

The came to play keeping the Tech offense out of the endzone. Tech came out throwing just as expected. Starter Tyler Potts started off hot going 7-8 for 69 yards mainly off of short stuff. You could tell the Tech offense wanted to nickel and dime down the field with the short passing game and use it as a substitute running game. Tech only attempted 4 runs all game. The secondary came up with a couple of big picks in the middle of the game that allowed KSU to pull away.

Daniel Thomas was able to play and his impact was a key part to the Wildcat victory. He carried the ball 23 times for 122yds. He didn't score any TDs but he impacted the game by keeping the chains moving and the Tech offense off the field. Backup HB Jarrell Childs had 5 carries for 68yds and 1TD. The TD run was named the play of the game. Carson Coffman was efficient going 12-16 178yds and 2TDs.
