In arguably their best performance of this young season, the Cowboys' defense held the Titans to 119yds of offense. They matched the Titans' smothering coverage, the difference being J. Echevaria making throws into that tight coverage and completing most of them. There were a couple of key drops on 3rd down that led to punts but, for the most part, the Cowboy receivers did enough to make the plays and keep drives going.

Titans' QB G. Smith did not enjoy the same benefit. Despite only attempting 11 passes, he only connected on 4 of them. And on 2 of those passes it seemed like Dallas FS C. Sentef had a bead on the pass only to watch it sail into the receiver's hands for big plays both times. Smith was under pressure most of the game and suffered 2 injuries late in the game. The first came after a brilliant stop by the Titans' defense on a 4th and 1 at the 2. Taking over deep in their own territory, the Titans chose to run the ball. But on 3rd down, Smith took the read option to the outside where he was met by Sentef for no gain and a sprained ankle. 1 series later, facing a 3rd and 9, he attempted to roll right and catch the defense by surprise. Except that SS J.J. Wilcox wasn't surprised at all, coming down and putting a hit on Smith that resulted in a torn labrum.

In the 3rd qtr Dallas would cause a few incompletions with some big hits, putting the Titans in a hole they would not be able to climb out of. The Cowboy OL then took over the game in the 4th, allowing HB L. Dunbar to finish with 131yds rushing and a score. Dunbar continues to do a great job of filling in for D. Murray and quite possibly has done enough to warrant staying in the #1 spot when Murray comes back in 2 weeks.

The win gave Dallas their best start in recent history but, no one on the team would talk about the impressive start to the season. "We'll enjoy this win tonight but, come tomorrow, our focus will be on Jacksonville," is all the coach would say. The Titans stay on the road in week 7, traveling to D.C. to take on the Redskins.

Don't worry. I stink. It would appear that you have those Cowboys on a tear! (y)
