Since we are in limbo as we wait for the big Texas vs Nebraska to go down, I thought I would preview next weeks Ohio State vs Penn State match up as this game has HUGE BCS implications as the winner of this game has gone on to play for the NC each year.

    #1 [IMG] vs #2 [IMG]

    QB
    OSU: rsSR Larry Walters 99ovr 205.2 rat 1301yds 15td 3int 67.6%

    PSU: rsSO Mike Dixon 97ovr 224.4 rat 2319yds 27td 4int 67.6%

Edge: OSU Dixon has put up "video game" numbers in his limited game experiance but Walters has the experiance and a slight edge in rating

    RB
    OSU: SO Chad Gilbert 87ovr 503yds 7td, JR Michael Vickers 87ovr 172yds 1td, JR Gary Nealy 195yds 3td

    PSU: rsSR Clint Murray 96ovr 226yds 5td, SO Jason Brown 86ovr 333yds 5td, rsFR Sam Larsen 85ovr 208yds 2td

Edge: OSU Neither team has a break out star in the backfield as both team spread the carries and with Penn States move to a spread air raid, OSU's RB should be a bigger factor

    WR/TE
    OSU: rsSO Ryan Barrow 90ovr 10rec 156yds 2td, rsJR Reggie Robinson 83ovr 20rec 453yds 5td, JR Ricky Herron 83ovr 10rec 198yds, SO Joe Johnson 83ovr 10rec 174yds 1td

    PSU: rsJR Joel Fernandez 99ovr 49rec 1233yds 12td, rsSO Cameron Connor 79ovr 45rec 787yds 6td, rsFR Jason Page 78ovr 15rec 448yds 5td, rsSR Kevin Franklin 76ovr 25rec 482yds 8td

Edge: PSU The Penn State WR have flourished in the newly installed air raid attack and Fernandez is the front runner to win the Heisman

    OL
OSU: Everyone knows about the impressive o-line of the Buckeyes with 4 99ovr and 1 98ovr

PSU: Hi 80's-low 90's in rating

Edge: OSU Not even up to debate

    DE
OSU: 86/89ovr with 2 combined sacks

PSU: 99/87ovr with 7 combined sacks

Edge: PSU Jeremy Jones is the difference here.

    DT
OSU : 99/96/90ovr with combined 2 sacks and 19 tackles

PSU: 92/89ovr with combined 1 sack and 24 tackles

Edge: OSU Brady Hill and the fact that the Buckeyes run a 4-3 gives them the advantage here

    LB
OSU: 92/95/96ovr with combined 52 tackles 9 sacks

PSU: 89/99/92/83ovr with combined 66 tackles 5 sacks 2 int

Edge: PUSH Despite PSU running a 3-4 and putting up better defensive numbers the overall ratings comparison and the fact that PSU starts a FR at OLB even this up

    CB
    OSU: 98/90/82/81ovr with combined 5ints

    PSU: 99/89/83/82ovr with combined 12ints

Edge: PSU Kyle Wilson leads the NCAA with 8ints and his counterparts are ballhawking as well this season

    S
    OSU: 94/88ovr with combined 2ints 21 tackles

    PSU: 82/88ovr with combined 1int 41 tackles

Edge: OSU with ovr ratings and experiance

    K
OSU: rsSR Aaron Allen 93ovr 12/13FG long of 60

PSU: rsSR James Swan 82ovr 4/4 long of 36

Edge: OSU The former Groza winner gets the nod

    K/PR
OSU: 18.5yd avg on KR and 13.2yd avg on PR with 1 TD

PSU: 29.2yd avg on KR with 1 TD and 6yd avg on PR

Edge: PSU Whenever Fernandez touches the ball it can be dangerous and his KR TD vs a user gets the advantage

    Coach
OSU: 1 Big 10 title and 1 BCS title appearance, 1-4 vs PSU

PSU: 4 Big 10 titles and 3 BCS titles in 4 appearances, 4-1 vs OSU

Edge: PSU Has had the Buckeyes number the past 5 years.

I fixed the poll, not sure who voted and what team they really meant to vote for. I can't find a way to throw out results.

Also, very nice work on the preview. I really want to win this season and have Walters go out on top. He won in his first season as quarterback and it would be a nice final chapter to win this match. Walters is 1 of 2 QB's in this league who did beat PSU, think Gilbert is the other.

I don't remember if I voted, but as I've said before, until someone beats Hokie, I ain't picking against him.
