Baron will be deciding divisions. As we wait to pass the time for picks, was interested to see how each member would split up the dvisions if they had the choice. The teams are as follows:

    BYU
    Baylor
    ISU
    Kansas
    Kansas State
    Oklahoma
    Oklahoma State
    TCU
    Texas
    Texas Tech
    Tulsa
    West Virginia

    North = ?
    South = ?

Yeah I saw the CB, so that's why I tagged you too. No rush, just figured some discussion would be fun.

Per conversations, I'm going to be removing Idaho from our Big XII realignment. Tulsa will be placed in the Big XII instead to allow for a more equitable talent split between the conferences. Hopefully no one in the first 5 picks wanted Tulsa. If you are adamant that you did, please post here and I'm certainly open to providing them to you.

Following Baron's proposal to replace Idaho with Tulsa, this is what I've got.

    East:
    West Virginia: 4* 84 overall
    Tulsa: 3* 79 overall
    Kansas: 2* 81 overall
    TCU: 5* 84 overall
    Texas: 6* 93 overall
    Kansas State: 4* 86 overall

    West:
    Oklahoma: 6* 91 overall
    Baylor: 3* 90 overall
    Texas Tech: 3* 86 overall
    BYU: 4* 83 overall
    Oklahoma State: 5* 91 overall
    Iowa State: 2* 81 overall

I did my best to manage both geography and competitive balance. The only thing you may want to look at is rivalries, though you can protect some of them.

Going off Wikipedia, the rivalries in the BigXII are:

    Baylor-TCU
    Baylor-Texas
    Baylor-Texas Tech
    Iowa State-Kansas State
    Oklahoma-Oklahoma State
    Oklahoma-Texas
    TCU-Texas
    TCU-Texas Tech
    Texas-Texas Tech

Baylor vs. Texas Tech, Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State and TCU vs. Texas are all preserved under the above setup.

Oklahoma vs. Texas, Iowa State vs. Kansas State, and Texas versus Texas Tech should be the additional preserved preserved rivalries, imo.

The way you named them is ironically how I would divide them.

    Big XII North
    BYU
    Baylor
    ISU
    Tulsa
    Kansas
    Kansas State

    Big XII South
    Oklahoma
    Oklahoma State
    TCU
    Texas
    Texas Tech
    West Virginia

Pay no attention to the north/south name. I put the oklahoma schools in one division and texas in another. There are 4 Texas schools and 3 Oklahoma schools (with Tulsa). Kansas and Kansas State need to be in the same divsion, so I clumped them in the Texas divsion since there are two open slots. The remaining 3 schools (BYU, ISU, and WVU) are scattered geographically so they filled up the rest of the Oklahoma division.

    North
    BYU 83
    Iowa State 81
    Oklahoma 91
    Oklahoma State 91
    Tulsa 79
    West Virginia 84

    South
    Baylor 90
    Kansas 81
    Kansas State 86
    TCU 84
    Texas 93
    Texas Tech 83

    Tulsa 79
    WVU 84
    Kansas 81

my apologies if this is what was already posted. This keeps all the texas schools in one half and the OKs and Kansases in the other. Just a thought, I am sure there is something wrong with it, so fire away!

To me, this appears the most reasonable. There is some semblance of geographic consistency with Kansas + Oklahoma teams in one division, then Texas teams in the other. While still providing competitive balance. The Texas Division is a little deeper, but there's no reason not to expect competent users to be able to take on the big dogs.

I agree any setup with the Oklahoma and Texas schools separated by division is probably best. BYU, Tulsa, & WVU really don't have any rivalries and have equal geographical sense (or lack of it) with either Texas or Oklahoma schools. The key is where do you want the Kansas schools: with Texas or Oklahoma division? The rest are fillers.

I think the Kansas schools have to go with Oklahoma simply because all the Texas schools will be fighting over the Texas recruits. The outsiders (BYU, ISU and WVU) can recruit elsewhere. Six teams all fighting over one main state (Texas) recruits is going to leave some with a dearth of talent.

So we're going with Mike E's setup.

That's a great point. Good job Mike E for constructing it yourself!

I realize this is just for this dynasty but Tulsa will never sniff an invite irl. Tons of smoke around USF though.

Are we really separating the TX and OK schools?

We are. There will be cross divisional games, obviously, and the title game which is the most important part. Beyond that, competitive balance as well as recruiting balance required it.

How will recruiting be different in these new divisions? Just talking here.

Obviously Texas will be important for all the schools in the Big XII but clustering all of the in-state schools creates more of an in-division competition for them. It also means the outsiders, such as the Kansas schools, are going up against schools with similar disadvantage, i.e. not being an in-state, Texas school.
