This game started off ugly for Kansas as they were held to negative offensive yards in the 1st quarter and no points. But then the Mike Cummings to Dexter McDonald connection got rolling. McDonald caught 3 TD passes and had 150 receiving yards in the 2nd quarter alone. Kansas led by 14 in the 4th, and picked off the Heisman QB and took it for a score. They added one more TD to win the game running away by 28 points. Kansas was in a rebuilding year this year, but still managed 11-2 with a victory in the Orange Bowl.

Mike Cummings (QB)- 13-24 for 335 yards, 4 TD, INT
Anthony Pierson (HB)- 9 carries for 67 yards
Dexter McDonald (WR)- 6 receptions fro 198 yards, 3 TD
Jake Farley (MLB)- 13 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sacks

    6-star prestige maybe?

Story lines a plenty in this one with a Gator grad pacing the sidelines against his alma mater. 18 seniors would be suiting up in their final appearance for TCU, including the Best Returner award winner Ethan Grant, and there may be no better setting in all of football to do so than the House that Jerry Built.

A tight contest through the first two quarters, the key play came late in the 2nd quarter. After a beauty of a pooch punt, UF was backed up to their own 1 yard line when Gator RB Mack Brown got absolutely destroyed in the end zone, fumbling, and TCU recovered for a late TD sending the game to half time 21-6. Brown was also knocked out of the game on as a result of the hit, and UF struggled to run the ball with its backup. The TCU defenders were able to key in on the passing game, creating 3 more fumbles as a result of sacks, and putting the game away late on a 2nd defensive TD.

The offense was hardly effective, doing just enough not to lose the game. Trevone Boykin threw two more interceptions in his final collegiate game, after throwing 4 in the Big 12 title game. He finished 17 for 27 with 304 yards and 1 TD to go with those 2 picks. The run game was completely non existant, as Shariff Floyd and the Gator front 7 was immovable. Senior Dwight Smith carried the ball 20 times for just 26 yards. Luckily, the defense stepped up to send the seniors out as winners.

Miami finishes out the season with a champ sports bowl win in a strong offensive performance. QB Ryan Williams finishes his career on a high note with 3 Tds and no interceptions. Now the team looks towards the offseason where they will try to determine who the new QB will be. Will it be new recruit Michael Rust or will the Ryan Williams Era Continue (the back up is actually named Ryan Williams too, how weird is that!)

    Auburn - 41
    OSU - 10

Auburn ends the season on a high note, plastering #20 Ohio State. The offense was phenomenal, putting up over 400 yards of total offense on the board, including over 300 on the ground. Quarterback Kiehl Frazier earned Player of the Game honors, capping a big time season for the first year starter. The win takes the sting off of a disappointing finish to the SEC schedule, including a loss to rival Alabama that saw the Tide earn a spot in the National Championship game. The Tigers will look to ride the momentum of this win into next year, but they will have to replace starting WR and return specialist Trovon Reed.

    Stats

    Passing
    K. Frazier - 9/11, 149 yds, 2 TD/0 INT

    Rushing
    M. Blakely - 17 att, 187 yds, TD
    K. Frazier - 5 att, 34 yds, TD

    Receiving
    T. Reed - 3 rec, 77 yds, TD
    A. Wayne - 3 rec, 51 yds
    A. Smith - 1 rec, 12 yds, TD

    #12 Cal 23
    #23 Miami 41

Miami gets the solid win at home in this one, the defense performed great and CB Dallas Crawford had two big INT returns for TDs and for awhile had outscored the Cal offense all by himself. Quarterback Ryan Williams (the new one not the old) made his debut and performed well going 20-29 239 Yards 2 TDs and TE Ernst proved to be his favorite target as they connected 9 times for 111 yards. A great win to start the season now they head to #4 Nebraska to avenge their big lost lass season.
