    Bowl Week 1

Louisiana Tech beats Central Florida 45-31 to finish the season 10-3. Both Senior Impact WR Cruz Williams and Houston Tuminello had big games with over 150 yds receiving each and Cruz had 3 TD receptions and Houston had 2 TD's. Senior HB Lennon Creer rushed for 90 yds to break a 1000 yds for the season to go along with 9 TD rushes. Senior QB Randy Hardin had a stellar game putting up over 400 yds passing in his final game. With all these losses next year is going to be tough, some young players are going to have to step with all these holes to fill.

Georgia Tech (7-5) (4-4 conf.) tangled with the Idaho Vandals (9-4) (6-2 conf.) for the

This game was played on the blue field of Boise State's Bronco Stadium!

    1st Qtr
GA Tech's option scheme was no surprise for the Vandals and the first qtr was simply a test of whether or not Tech would just run wild or if Idaho would have an answer. The Vandals played variations of 3-3-5 cover one and found outstanding success as they limited Tech to just a FG in the firstr qtr. Meanwhile, on offense, Sr HB Princeton McCarty scored on a 30 yd run using a run play the Vandals had never used before this game.
End of 1st qtr score : Idaho 07 Georgia Tech 03

    2nd Qtr
The Vandals gave McCarty a steady diet of touches thru out the 2nd qtr. The coaching staff had an excellent variety of run plays which kept Tech guessing. McCarty eventually scored from 4 yds out with under 2 minutes in the half giving the Vandals an 8 pt lead.

Tech converted a 4th down pass around mid field to keep their last drive of the half alive. And then again... on 4th down, Tech managed a 32 yd scoring strike to WR A. Wiggins. The Vandals secondary seemed a little overwhelmed on the play as a freshman DB seemed to just watch the ball without so much as raising his arms to provide help in the double cvg.

HALF TIME : Idaho 14 Georgia Tech 14

    3rd Qtr
Idaho SR wideout, Preston Davis... who had taken a huge hit earlier in the game and came out for a few plays... seemed out for revenge in the 2nd half. With one on one cvg, Davis went up in the air on a fly route, muscled the ball away from the Tech DB., slammed the DB to the ground... and then pranced into the endzone to complete a 49 TD reception. Davis was obviously retaliating for the big hit he took earlier and the message was quite clear... he would not lose another physical battle for any jump balls.

Tech tied the game on a 22 yd scamper from HB O. Smith, but McCarty was back for more scoring on a 7 yd rumble before the qtr ended.
End of 3rd qtr score : Idaho 28 Georgia Tech 21

    4th Qtr
Idaho never really lost control of the game. Wr Patrick Mealey scored on a beautiful 12 yd route slipping in behind the saftey and catching a ball thrown from QB reader as he was getting hit by what seemed to be 3 blitzing defenders.

McCarty scored another after a Vandal INT... and then he took a bow to the Vandal fans as he stepped out of the game and ended a brilliant career and fantastic SR season.. The rest of the game was routine as the Vandals put this one to rest !

FINAL SCORE - Idaho 49 Georgia Tech 35
