No surprise Nik won the sim vs Blonde. I don't think I've ever seen two guys duck each other that hard before.

Wtf? I was available the entire day the first day, all day until 630CT yesterday, and was on time for our meeting tonight when Nik didn't respond to my texts for an hour and 45 minutes, far after the time he said he could play til. I thought he was assed out so I went to buffalo wild wings with some friends. Sue me.

The fine folks in New Orleans thought it would be cool to invite Utah State and UTEP to play for the 3rd time in the bowl in 4 seasons, even though they already played this season and Utah State won by 40. Utah State dominated again, with Billy McClain rushing for 200 yards, including the first ever recorded 100 yard run from scrimmage as far as I know. It was 38-0 at half but UTEP put on the big boy pants and played a decent 2nd half. Final: 45-21

Army wins 4 straight to finish the season and takes care of Toledo in their Little Ceasars Bowl Showdown. The story of the game was good defense and a bruising ground game. Army forced 2 turnovers but kept the Toledo no huddle in check for most of the game. Victor Harrison carried the ball 30 times for 180 yds and 1 TD. He also weaved his way in on a screen pass for a 43 yd TD reception. No hard drive so no highlights unfortunately but RE Dan Hayward laid a viscious hit on Toledo QB who couldn't get anything on his pass and caused an interception. Good win for the Black Knights.

Potato Nation takes care of business against another crappy team from the Katrina State, as the Vandals flood the La Tech Bulldogs 52-20.

In what is usually a game where the seniors take center stage, it was Idaho's freshmen that stole the stage. Condolences go out to senior quarterback Jim Rice, who had a season-ending broken vertebrae injury in the second quarter. Rice, who wraps up a nice statistical career at Idaho, threw for one touchdown and had a disappointing two interceptions before taking an ambulance ride to Honolulu General.

Leading just 14-13 in the second quarter, and with Rice out, the Vandals decided to lean on the legs of senior running back RJ Pitts. However, after breaking loose for a 40 yard run, RJ coughed up the ball for the Vandals' 3rd turnover of the first half. That would send Coach Full Moon Fever into a conniption fit. From that point on, the Vandals' Potato Gun was loaded with redshirt freshmen Earl Walker at QB and Eric "The Islander" Johnson. Johnson would continue to amaze, racking up 150 yards on three catches, and running for 66 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Earl Walker was impressive as well, completing 11 of 19 attempts for 323 yards and 4 touchdowns with 1 interception, though it should be noted that two of his touchdowns were screen plays to The Islander for 66 and 84 yards, respectively. With the freshmen taking over, the Vandals would quickly put the game out of reach, cruising to a 45-20 lead in the 3rd quarter before pulling back the reigns and giving senior Pitts some more love in the 4th.

This wraps up a somewhat disappointing season for the Vandals, who had championship hopes after opening conference play with back to back wins over division rivals ULaLa and Utah State before going on a three game skid against Arky State, Western Kentucky, and a cpu-led loss against conference champion Western Michigan. The Vandals finish the year out at 10-3 and await the EA Star god's judgment, hoping to attain the elusive 5th program prestige star after losing it this season.
