    A Wins A Win!!!
It was not a pretty win. It was not a glamourous bowl. It summed up the 2011 Miami Hurricane season. The Canes beat a very good yet very similar Oregon team from the Pac 10 17-3 in the Sun Life Bowl in El Paso Texas today. Oregon came into the season with big expectations (preseason ranked #3) but finished with a wimper at 8-5. Miami came into the year with small expectations to begin the year then lost starting tailback Lamar Miller and it seemed that whatever hope they had would go out the door. Not so fast my friend Mike James stepped up and ran for over 1500 yards the offense looked to really click as Allen Hurns and Tommy Streeter made a very potent 1-2 punch and the Canes beat the #4,#2,#5 teams in the land (OSU,TCU and Virginia Tech) in back to back to back weeks. Then the ugly came out as they lost to UNC on some questionable tackling by the Cane secondary. They seemed to get that back in order against VA and GT but that came apart in two tough losses against FSU and USF. Miami finished the season in the top 25 with wins in its last two games and the SR's went out with a bowl win something they had not had in their Hurricane tenure. Coach York was proud of his guys and had this to say after the game "We battled out there against a very tough Ducks team. These SR's grew up this year. This was the class from Miami (talking about Miami Northwestern teamates Sean Spence and Jacory Harris two recruits that were touted as SR's)that was supposed to bring back the U. Well they did it this year. This team came together and competed week in and week out led by those SR's. I am gonna miss them they made the transistion for my coaching staff that much easier. They bought in to what we were selling and we got to a bowl game and won it. I am very proud of this season. We are bringing the "U" back baby if your not on the train you are gonna get run over." A couple of notes on Lamar Miller he should be back and 100% by spring practice he was rehabing and traveled with the team to El Paso. JR's Ray Ray Armstrong,Vaughn Telemaque and Marcus Fortson have decisions to make on wether to go to the NFL or not. All indications are that all three would be selected in the 1st 3 rounds if they choose to go. We shall wait and see.

    Michigan state outlast Ksu.

Ksu which dominated the game. Relied on their award winning kicker and he failed. Missing 2 crucial fg both from inside 50. Considering he had missed 2 fg all year this was a shocker. Bryce brown struggled totaling less than 75 total yards. Klein played well 2 int killed some KSU momentum. Ksu will continue to get better as they grow as a program.

FSU Defeats Mississippi State 38-17 in Chick-fil-A Bowl

After 2 straight losses the Seminoles ended off their season with a win over the Bulldogs. The story of the game was big plays by the FSU offense as they had 3 scoring plays of 50 yards and all came courtesy of a passing attack that has struggled much of the season. WR Bert Reed finished off his career at Tallahassee with a strong performance catching 4 passes for 116 yards with 2 touchdowns. TE Beau Reliford also had 2 touchdowns and had a 50 yard score himself in the 3rd quarter. QB EJ Manuel only completed 9 passes on the day but the big plays allowed him to rack up 262 yards through the air with 4 touchdowns. RB Chris Thompson was excellent as usual gaining 127 yards on 21 carries and in the process set a school record for rushing yards in a season with 1,327.

The last 2 weeks had not been kind to the Seminole defense as they were dominated by the Florida and Virginia Tech offenses. While the defense did not have a complete turnaround today they did play much better totally dominating the Bulldogs offense until midway through the 3rd quarter. After which they allowed Mississippi State to go on 3 long drives 2 of which resulted in a touchdown.

This season was an up and down one for the Seminoles as they had some good victories but some devastating losses as well. The team hopes for build on a successful end to the season next year.

    Virginia Tech 13
    Texas 20

Wow, this was probably the toughest game Texas had all season, they now understand full well the beast that is V-Tech HB David Wilson who finished with 2000 yards on the year and a heisman trophy, and how Virginia Tech could beat a couple Users and win the ACC. Texas would not be denied though and behind a 125 yard performance from HB Foshwitt Whitaker who has been a whipping boy all year for everything wrong with Texas and a 11-16 for 185 yard performance from QB Case McCoy they get the victory over a tough tough opponent.

Whitakers 87 yard run midway through the third would put Texas ahead and they would extend that lead to 7 points after Virginia Tech responded with a hellish drive for a TD. Texas went up 20-13 late in the 3rd and in the 4th quarter the defense went to work to keep Wilson and the V Tech offense under control.
