Head coach Danny Ski announced after the 10-26 loss to the Steelers that Rookie QB Jessie Koch would be taking over at QB for the rest of the season. In a contract year and a hot start Rivers was looking to bounce back from an awful 2014 campaign when he lead the league with Interceptions with 33 total. Things started off alright for Rivers and rumor has it that the front office and Rivers were close to agreeing on a 2 year contract extension for over 20 million a year but things took a turn for the worse the second and third quarter of the season and Rivers found himself pulled from a close game on Sunday where he threw 3 interceptions (20 INT's on the season) and kept his team from competing... Koch came in and threw the teams only TD on the day. When asked if the Chargers would consider signing the 34 year old veteran after the year coach Ski remained non-committal and said he was just focusing on getting rookie Jessie Koch ready for Minnesota. Coach ski said "at 5-7 we are not out of it by any means but things are clearly slipping away and we need to see what we have in Koch." We liked his arm-strength coming out of Wisconsin and his ability to throw down field." Koch will look to get on track against the Vikings next week and he will have a plethora of weapons including pro bowler Keenan Allen, Danny Woodhead, Ladarius Green, and of course the standout rookie Audre Slaughter. In fact, Koch threw his first TD of the season this past week against the Steelers to rookie Audre Slaughter and he will look to pick up where he left off next week against the Vikings where he will appear for his first start of his career.
