The Houston Texans announced the firings earlier this month of HC Gary Kubiak, DC Wade Phillips, and OC Rick Dennison. Owner Cade Petty has decided to clean house and change the culture in Houston. In his first order of business, Petty wanted to bring in a respectable coach around league who has a track record for winning. The prime candidates were Marvin Lewis, Jeff Fisher, John Harbaugh, and college coaches Mack Brown/Brian Kelly.

The Houston Texans are proud to announce today that they have agreed to terms with coaching legend-

    Jimmy Johnson

Jimmy Johnson will step down from Fox as a broadcaster and accept a 3yr 38million dollar deal with the Houston Texans. At the age of 71, Johnson knows his time to coach is brief. He wanted to step into a team with potential to add to his 2 Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys. Not many coaches have the resume like Jimmy from Miami Hurricanes to the Dallas Cowboys. As an analyst with Fox, he has seen the NFL and been able to break down film. He believes he is ready to step back into football. Petty expressed how big of a fan he is of Johnson, growing up as a Cowboys fan and seeing him raise the Lombardi gave him great respect of Johnson. The question is has the NFL changed too much for Johnson and how long will he stay. One bad season with the Texans and we could see Jimmy bail.

Owner/GM Cade Petty and newly HC Jimmy Johnson have come to terms with a new Offensive and Defensive Coordinator today. Coach Johnson is known for his Power Run offense and his 4-3 defense. Although, with the Texans he has to adjust to his roster. Having JJ Watt is the 4-3 is a waste. So, He knew he needed someone he knew the 3-4 defense to turn over reigns to.

The Texans have come to terms with Alabama's Defensive Coordinator Kirby Smart on a 3 year deal.

Smart has ran both a 3-4/4-3 defense at Alabama although their scheme is a 3-4. The Texans may stay with the attacking 3-4 defense scheme, but we could see them in a Hybrid Multiple Front Defense. Smart won 3 National Championships with the Crimson Tide and is ready to take it to the NFL level.

The Texans have also come to terms with Texas Tech HC Kliff Kingsbury on a 2yr deal as their offensive coordinator

Kingsbury has had success at the college ranks in his first year as HC and just like Smart is ready to build his NFL resume. He grew up in San Antonio, Tx and played at Texas Tech, so it was a perfect fit for the Texans. Kliff will bring a different look to the Texans offensive side and being a former QB he will control the offense in need of an upgrade at the QB position. Kingsbury helped groom our very own Case Keenum and Johnny Manziel in college, so it was a no brainer for Johnson to bring him in. Both Coach Johnson and Kingsbury have said that they will adjust their offense to their QB of the 2014 season whether it is Casey Keenum or someone else. Although, I predict a balanced approach we may see a lot more spread with Kingsbury at the reigns.

Coach Johnson is 71 and knew he needed to bring in some younger coaches to build chemistry for the 2014 Houston Texans.
