The Stanford athletic department has elected to terminate Coach Jam's contract, effective immediately. This comes off a disappointing 17-10 loss to the Oregon Ducks, which brought Stanford's record to a terrible 0-5. Coach Jam had a couple of impressive seasons in his first few years at the university, even winning the Pac-10 in his first year as head coach. Coach Jam seems like he won't be unemployed for very long, as he has already begun contract talks with FIU, and a deal could be finished as early as today. FIU is Jam's Alma Mater and he is also a native of Miami, Florida. FIU has lived in relative squalor these last few seasons, and has just plain been terrible. ESPN has their rankings at D- overall, D offense and D defense. Though it looks like this will be a monumental task for Coach Jam, he did show signs of rebuilding the Stanford program before this year. An audio statement concerning Jam's feelings about the move will be released soon and Jam is expected to coach FIU against ULL this week.
