The Broncos headed into Indianapolis to take on the high powered offense of the Colts and Peyton Manning. The Broncos knew they would need a stellar performance from the defense and a mistake free game from the offense to keep this game close. Well it didnt start out too well as Jamaal Charles took the opening kickoff 99 yards for a TD and Denver fell behind immediately 7-0. Josh Mcdaniels and the Broncos however did not lose their composure as they added 2 FG's to pull within 1. The Colts offense kept the pressure on as both teams traded scores and Vinaterri added a FG as the Colts went in at the half up 17-13.

The Broncos had a plan and made 2nd half adjustments and it proved to work early as the Broncos coaching staff noticed Antoine Bethea cheating up to stop the slant so Orton went deep to Demarius Thomas for a 73 yard strike giving the Broncos a 20-17 lead. We head to the 4th Qtr where on a key 3rd and 1 Dallas CLark dropped a pass where he was wide open and the Colts settle for 3. Here comes the key point in the game, with the Broncos driving near the Colts 40 yard line Kyle Orton went to the well 1 too many times where he was picked off by Shawn Springs looking for Thomas on a crossing route in the middle of the field which set the Colts up in great position with just over 2 minutes left.

Peyton then took over and did what only Peyton Manning can do which was control the clock with the short passing game which eventually setup a chip shot game winning FG as time expired as the Colts go on to win 23-20.

"We gave it everything we had, we made 1 mistake and that ended up costing us the game" said Kyle Orton. "I'm proud of this team, we had the best team on the ropes and we had our chances. We tip our hats to the colts as they excuted when they had to but we sure didnt make it easy on them. We made great strides this season and thats really something we can build on headed into next season" said Josh Mcdaniels.

Agreed Doug. Would've liked to see this one as well. One of those games where one mistake (or two) decides the winner. Nice recap Pep.

What was sure to be a game full of fireworks didn't fall short at all. Coming off a bye the Colts looked to shake off any rust. And the Broncos with a huge win vs San Diego was riding a emotional high.Perfect recipe for a head banger.

    First Quarter

Colts take the initial kickoff 100 yards to the house taking the early momentum 7-0.Answering back the Broncos took it into COlts territory and capped the drive off with a field goal making it 7-3 Colts ending the quarter.

    Second Quarter

The first score came from the Broncos on a drive ending in a field goal 7-6 Colts. After a Austin Collie touchdown the Broncos answered right back with one of there own making it 14-13 Colts.Ending the half Vinatieri added 3 giving the Colts a 17-13 lead at half.

    Third Quarter

Only score in this quarter came from a steak in the seam from Thomas for 76 yards. Giving the Broncos a 20-17 lead starting the 4th

    Fourth Quarter

With a crucial drop from my Tamme on a 3rd and short the Colts were forced to attempt a field goal which was good evening the score at 20-20.After a huge pick by the Colts D they ate clock in a long drive to attempt a chip shot field goalat the end of regulation advancing the Colts to the Conference title game.
