The Broncos headed into Indianapolis to take on the high powered offense of the Colts and Peyton Manning. The Broncos knew they would need a stellar performance from the defense and a mistake free game from the offense to keep this game close. Well it didnt start out too well as Jamaal Charles took the opening kickoff 99 yards for a TD and Denver fell behind immediately 7-0. Josh Mcdaniels and the Broncos however did not lose their composure as they added 2 FG's to pull within 1. The Colts offense kept the pressure on as both teams traded scores and Vinaterri added a FG as the Colts went in at the half up 17-13. The Broncos had a plan and made 2nd half adjustments and it proved to work early as the Broncos coaching staff noticed Antoine Bethea cheating up to stop the slant so Orton went deep to Demarius Thomas for a 73 yard strike giving the Broncos a 20-17 lead. We head to the 4th Qtr where on a key 3rd and 1 Dallas CLark dropped a pass where he was wide open and the Colts settle for 3. Here comes the key point in the game, with the Broncos driving near the Colts 40 yard line Kyle Orton went to the well 1 too many times where he was picked off by Shawn Springs looking for Thomas on a crossing route in the middle of the field which set the Colts up in great position with just over 2 minutes left. Peyton then took over and did what only Peyton Manning can do which was control the clock with the short passing game which eventually setup a chip shot game winning FG as time expired as the Colts go on to win 23-20. "We gave it everything we had, we made 1 mistake and that ended up costing us the game" said Kyle Orton. "I'm proud of this team, we had the best team on the ropes and we had our chances. We tip our hats to the colts as they excuted when they had to but we sure didnt make it easy on them. We made great strides this season and thats really something we can build on headed into next season" said Josh Mcdaniels.
