Broncos 34 - Raiders 24 Who would’ve imagined the race for the AFC West division would pan out the way it did and go down to the last game of the season. Broncos have had an up and down year but with a little help have found themselves in control of their own destiny going into Oakland to face the Raiders. The Broncos started out on offense and started clicking right away. A good mix of run and pass kept the Raider defense off balance. However, their first 2 visits to the red zone resulted in only FG’s. A 6-0 lead in the 2nd quarter is definitely no safe lead, not with this talented Raider team. The Raiders would respond with a drive of their own but were held to a FG as well. (6-3) Osweiler had been looking sharp since the first snap and responded with some great QB play. Meanwhile Ronnie Hillman was having his best first half ever and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Hillman broke off some nice runs between and outside the tackles. Denver would drive down the field capping it off with a Julius Thomas TD catch. (13-3) With less than 2 minutes to go in the half, the Raiders were putting together a good drive when SS Duke Ihenacho picked off a Terryl Pryor pass. Denver would not waste the opportunity to add to the lead as RB Ronnie Hillman found the endzone at the end of the half. (20-3) RB's Hillman and McFadden both had a spectacular games. Beginning of the 2nd half, here come da Raiiideerrzz. Darren Macfadden was being the beast that he is and gave his a team a lift with a big run. Terrell would follow it up with a big TD pass to TE Ausberry. (20-10) On Denver’s next possession Osweiler makes a mistake and throws a Int to CB DJ Hayden. Raiders capitalize quickly on a McFadden TD run (20-17). Uhoh!! Season is on the line here!! Here come da Broncos. Denver’s offense was clicking and Osweiler responds by leading his team down the field again capping it off with a Demaryus Thomas TD catch. (27-17) It’s a shoot out!! 4th Quarter. Raiders keep on fighting back McFadden is freekin unstoppable. Pryor finds WR Moore on an 18yd TD pass (27-24). Denver has been on the wrong end of comeback games this season and one couldn’t help but to think “here we go again”. In this one however Denver’s offense were just clicking way to well to be denied. The team’s star players stepped it up. Especially WR Demaryus Thomas who found the endzone for his 2nd TD of the game with less than 2 minutes to go in the game to give his team a 10 point lead 34-24. It would turn out to be too much to overcome with not much time left in the game and Denver holds on to secure the division title. Player of the game WR Demaryus Thomas halls in a TD pass. Raiders were definitely game and fought till the very end. Denver was able to make some big time clutch plays by their big time players to close this one out. The defense had kept the team in games but the offense really started to sync in the last 2 games…and it couldn’t have come at better time. QB Brock Osweiler had a good showing with 17/25 296yds 3TD's 1Int. Notable Stats: RB Ronnie Hillman 20/162yds 1TD RB Darren McFadden 11/171yds 1TD (95yd run) WR Demaryus Thomas 9/175yds 2TD's TE Julius Thomas 3/72yds 1TD Broncos TE Julius Thomas looks to make his first ever probowl in 2013. Great game Aaron Hulk_hagen_55 . Good luck to you in the offseason.
