The Cleveland Browns have not fared so well over the recent seasons. That fact does not have any bearing on the positive upbeat mood in Cleveland. The Browns are going to be competitive this year. The Browns do not care about being flashy, or pretty, or perfect...but they will grind, and they will fight...and they will win. This is not your mamas Browns. These new Cleveland Browns are ready to play.

    BOLD STATEMENTS:

We will win more then 2 games (*El Guesser Prediction)
We will win at least one game against our division competitor the Ravens
Some owners will count the Browns game as an auto win and will be wrong

Our roster is well rounded out, and is aimed at being competitive and putting a solid product on the field for the Browns fans to watch.

    GAME ONE:

    Browns @ Cowboys

The Browns travel to Dallas for their first game of the season. This will be a very tough game in a tough environment.

    GAME ONE:

    BROWNS @ COWBOYS

The Browns came into this game with high hopes of being competitive. The Browns had lost before to the Cowboys in Season One, and knew it would be a tough game. Our plan was to minimize turnovers and keep the game close.

    First Half:

The Browns received the ball first and attempted to move the ball down field, they were successful converting on two 3rd down plays. The rookie TE Legaux was crucial on this drive. Unfortunately as the team crossed the 50 yard line, on the next play Vick dropped back and was hit while trying to pass. Vick fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Dallas. Dallas put together a nice drive in the short field and put up the first Touchdown of the game. First blood had been drawn by the hungry Cowboys.

The Browns would respond by putting together a nice drive that would allow Trent Richardson to scamper in for a Browns TD. Dallas QB Tony Romo would throw a deep pass to his TE Witten down the middle of the field. The ball seemed to stay in the air forever. Rookie FS Dexter CLEVELAND who was drafted with the 2nd pick intercepted the ball and brought it back about 30 yards. Trent Richardson would add another touchdown on the ground from very close to the endzone. Romo would later in the quarter through another intereption to CB Joe Haden on an apparent out route to the right side of the field. Joe Haden stepped in front of the ball and never looked back as he ran it in for a unscathed Touchdown. After not scoring in the first quarter, the Browns added 24 points in the second quarter.

    Second Half:

Dallas came back and made this a close and sweaty palms contest. Dallas was down 10 points in the fourth quarter with 5 minutes to go. Dallas drove down and stalled just shy of getting a TD, so with it being 4th and goal and needing ten points, Dallas did the smart thing and kicked the field goal, making it a one score game. With time becoming a major factor, Dallas was prepared to onside kick the ball. Cleveland was ready for this, but did feel admittedly nervous. The Browns looked like they had the ball after the kick as they had two Browns players in perfect position. The Cowboys persevered and came up with the onside kick. They were able to drive down the field and tie the game up with a dramatic touchdown with 30 seconds to go. TIE GAME 30 seconds left.

The Cowboys kick off the ball and get called for a facemask which added 15 yards to the return. The ball was placed around the 35 yard line or so. The first play was a risky 12 yard pass to the left side of the field, and rookie WR R.Williams hauled in the catch and went right out of bounds. Newly acquired WR Larry Fitzgerald would then catch a great ball and march down the field into field goal range. With one timeout left, the Browns called a running play up the middle for Trich to get some more yards for our kicker. Trich made a 50 yard kick turn into a 45 yard field goal.

The kicker split the uprights...the Browns win their first game with a field goal as time expires.

    Good game Dallas. CaptMoe

    New Faces New Places:

Player Spotlight ~ WR Larry Fitzgerald

    Height: 6-3 Weight: 218 Age: 29
    Born: 8/31/1983 Minneapolis , MN
    College: Pittsburgh

Larry Fitzgerald was acquired days before the first 12th man draft of Madden 13. The Browns had locked up the #2 pick in the draft. This draft was known by many as the Jason Merian sweepstakes. We had a more then a few owners ask about potential trades, but did not expect to make the trade. The Browns would have taken Jason Merian as their QB of the future, if it was not for a trade that barely made the headlines. The Browns traded for QB Kaepernick and fell in love with the kid. They now had a bonafide QB that would be a good QB. This subtle trade move allowed the Browns to free themselves of taking a QB in the draft.

The Browns began to seek out a dominant player and a pick in return for the highly coveted "Jason Merian" pick. thafuture3886

We began talks with Arizona's front office and mutually agreed on a deal that would benefit us both. The Browns traded the #2 pick in JASON MERIAN NOT MATT WILLIAMS for the #21 pick and WR Larry Fitzgerald. The Browns obtained their slot WR Rashon Williams with the 21st pick and he is a crucial part of the new offense. The Browns now have a WR lineup of 1. Larry Fitzgerald 2. Hakeem Nicks and 3. Rashon Williams (who had 94 yards and two third down conversions before the halves in his first NFL game)

Welcome PRO BOWL WR Larry Fitzgerald to the Cleveland Browns. In your first game you scored a TD, and caught a pass in Dallas territory in field goal range with 6 seconds to go in the 4th quarter.

Larry Fitzgerald is also the leagues best dressed WR...voted by his peers FUN FACT

More to come...In the Next segment of "New Faces New Places" you will meet our two new QB's and the story around their role as Cleveland Brown QB's and how they got here.

    GAME TWO:
    BENGALS @ BROWNS

    First Half:

The Bengals started the game by receiving the kick off. The Bengals began a drive that only stalled out after a clear dropped pass on 3rd down. The Bengals punted the ball and pinned the Browns deep in their own territory. As the Browns went to hand off the ball the Bengals d-line swarmed the trenches and pushed McCoy back into the endzone ever so close to a safety. Forward progress was the savior for the Browns, as they narrowly avoided a safety and were allowed to punt the ball. The Browns were happy…for about two seconds, and then the punt from in our endzone was fielded by Reggie Bush. A beautiful PR with great vision bv Reggie Bush, led to the first touchdown of the game, and what would be the Bengals only touchdown of the game. It was a spectacular return, and showed that Reggie Bush still has playmaker ability.

This was a defensive battle…as not another point was scored in the half. The Bengals were up 7-0 going into the 2nd half. The Browns did not score a single point in the first two quarters of play.

    Second Half:

The first score of the second half came from a scamper to the left side of the field from RB Trent Richardson for 44 yards and pay dirt. The Browns were now on the board and the score was tied up. The Bengals would receive the ball and mount a long and complete drive going into the 4th quarter. The Browns defense was pinned in their own redzone when CB Joe “I’m in a contract year” Haden intercepted the Manning pass and ran it back 91 yards for a Defensive Touchdown. This moment was truly a game changer. Instead of the Browns going down a touchdown in the last quarter of play, they went up a touchdown…huge momentum shift. The score was now Bengals 7 Browns 14. The Bengals then moved into Browns territory yet again and added a Mike Nugent field goal to make the contest a 4 point game. The Browns would then add a touchdown from rookie TE Legaux aided by a long Hakeem Nicks catch. It was the final score of the game. Bengals 10 Browns 21.

Good game Bengals, I look forward to many more division contests.

    GAME THREE:

    BROWNS @ GIANTS

The Browns were able to snag a three point victory from the always formidable New York Giants. The Browns have now won two of their three games by exactly three points. Cleveland fans no longer have any nails left on their fingers...or toes for that matter.

Eli Manning was solid as usual and consistent. Manning connected on two touchdowns, one of which was a HB screen to David Wilson who went in untouched. Michael Vick scampered in for a 9 yard touchdown up the middle in the first half, it was his first rushing touchdown of the season.

Jason Pierre Paul did his usual thing and was a force in the backfield. You have to be aware of JPP and avoid him and work around him...easy to say, not easy to do. I knew this...and of course JPP still wreaked havoc and recorded a sack. Well played JPP. "JPP yeah you know me" I do. and me no likey.

    Good game Juan~

    Week Seven
    BROWNS @ RAIDERS
This game was a hard fought game filled with excitement and big plays. If you have not played the Raiders you should be scared of his offense (really his whole team). Defending Heyward-Bey and Brandon Marshall, while keeping an eye on Mcfadden is a tough tough task. The Browns barely escape with a victory.

    First Half:

The first score of the game came from a beautiful 34 yard pass to Heyward-Bey, and it would not be his last. There was a little back and forth until the next score. Browns WR Rashon Williams scored on a 68 yard pass, he was initially the third read of the play, but when the corner blitzed covering Williams, the pass was lofted up by Vick and caught in stride by a scoring Williams. It looked as if the Browns would be following the score up with another TD, but the Raiders defense had a great stand and made Clev. kick a field goal.
In the second quarter Cleveland was pinned in their own endzone after a great punt. The Browns were inside the ten yard line and threw a pass to Hakeem Nicks who was covered. Nicks caught the ball and the defender slipped off his shoulders, and allowed Nicks to scamper away for a 90 yard score. This missed tackle gave the Browns some needed momentum. There would be some more field goals before the half.
Browns 20 Raiders 10 at the half

    Second Half:

The 3rd quarter started off with a TD pass to Eric Lagaux who had earlier dropped a TD pass and a 3rd down pass that would have led to a big first down. The Raiders would strike back and score two big touchdowns with one to TE Winslow and another coming on a beautiful goaline pass to Heyward-Bey. I was looking for a run the whole time, and the Raiders passed a ball perfectly to the back left of the endzone for a TD. Trent Richardson would add a 9 yard burst for a TD later in the game The last Raider touchdown came at 2:23 and was a Brandon Marshall strike for 32 yards.

This game came down to the wire…a fumble decided this game.

Good game Raiders. Best of luck the rest of the way.
    @miki

    BROWNS 37 RAIDERS 31

    Passing:
    Vick 335 yards 3 TD 0 INT (2 fumbles)
    Warner 322 yards 4 TD 2 INT
    Rushing:
    Richardson 13 att 82 yards 1 TD
Ego McCoy 7 att 31 yards

    Mcfadden 18 att 85 yards

    Receiving:
Nicks 3-101 yards 1 TD (90 yard TD)
Rashon Williams 3-164 yards 1 TD
    Fitzgerald 2-33 yards

    Marshall 5-102 yards 1 TD
    H-Bey 7-163 yards 2 TD

    Notable Stats:
Saftey TJ Ward forced a fumble near the end of the 4th quarter to seal the game. The Raiders had the ball down by 6 and enough time to mount a drive…but the ball was fumbled and Vick kneeled the remaining snaps…tough break
Game ball to TJ Ward: He had 2 FF and 2 PD

    Game notes:
Cleveland was missing their starting FS, #2 CB, and OLB due to injury…they look to get back rookie phenom FS Dexter Cleveland and CB Tracy Porter this week against Pitt.

    Browns Update:

The Browns have been hit hard by injuries this year. In the last contest vs. the Steelers, starting MLB Kenneth Dukes was lost for the season with a broken ankle. The Browns have placed MLB Dukes on the Injured Reserve. The Browns are now without two of their starting LB's. (Thomas Davis still has 5 weeks left from his 9 week injury)

The Browns have two football cliches they would like to use here:
