The final score does not tell the story of this game as the Bucs defense gave Matt Ryan and the entire Falcons offense fits for most of this game. The Bucs offense used a ball control gameplan with the hopes of keeping the ball away from the explosive Falcons offense and it worked. Bucs rookie WR Mike Evans shined early and hauled in 6 catches for 76yds and 2 TDs. But the Bucs offense did sputter and the Atlanta defense forced a bad throw by Qb Mike Glennon that was intercepted by CB Robert Alford whom proceeded to walk into the endzone. This pick 6 was Atlantas only points in the first half which gave the Bucs a 14-7 halftime lead. The Bucs defense was just as impressive as mid-3rd quarter Falcons QB Matt Ryan was held to 11yds passing. But the vaunted Falcons passing attack could be held in check for only so long. Backed up to his own 1-yd line, Matt Ryan was able to find speedster WR Devin Hester down the right seam and one missed tackle and 99-yds later, Hester crossed the goal line and brought the game to within reach for the Falcons at 21-14. But behind some hard nose running by Bucs HB Doug Martin and smart decisions by QB Mike Glennon the Bucs were able to hang on and take the win at 21-14. GG Michael Overman I see many more battles in the future for our squads.
