This week 8 matchup pitted the 3-3 Buccaneers vs the 0-6 Falcons. Both teams started the season with high aspirations but for the most part, they both have failed to live up to the preseason hype.

The Falcons received the opening kickoff and quickly used its 2-headed monster running game comprised of A.Peterson and J.Charles to decisively march down the field and with only 1:40 off the game clock, Peterson capped off the drive with a beautiful 33yd TD run leaving Bucs defenders reeling in his wake. In this drive, J.Charles also had a big 40yd+ run.

The Bucs would answer back in the 2nd Qtr. with a pair of TD's from QB Dennis Cox to WR Mike Evans. This combo has been sorely missed as both players are back from lengthy injuries. Bucs HB Tyrhe Pendleton continued his team's 2nd qtr. scoring with a TD run from 2yds out. But the Falcons run game would not be done yet as J.Charles would scamper 75yds on the subsequent drive for the TD. :18secs later, Bucs QB Cox would make a boneheaded read and throw a ball into the right flat that would quickly be intercepted and returned 38yds for a TD by Falcons CB Robert Alford. Cox would regain his composure and mount a great drive that ended with another connection to Evans on a 26yd TD pass. This would finally end what was a crazy 2nd quarter of scoring by both teams.

The Falcons defense picked up right where it left off, when FS Dezmen Southward read a FB angle route perfectly, picked off the pass and took it in from 22yds out for the Falcons 2nd defensive TD of the day. QB Dennis Cox would again take the field after a pick 6 and show everyone how quickly he could forget his miscues. Cox would find WR Russell Shepard wide open down the seam as the Falcons rolled the dice and went with the blitz leaving no safety help. Shepard would be able to haul in the 54yd TD pass.
The remainder of the 3rd quarter was a back and forth battle as neither offense could do much of anything.

The Falcons passing game showed signs of life late in the game when QB Matt Ryan found WR Julio Jones down the left sideline for a beautiful 71yd pass and catch.

Down 3pts late in the 4th, the Falcons hoped their defense could get a stop and put their offense on the field but hard nosed running by the Bucs was able to keep the ball away and ice the game.

GG Michael Overman . Looking forward to rematch in Week 16
