    Buffalo at Southern Mississippi Recap

K so here are some highlights and low lights from yesterdays game between me and Dub. It was a great game, I felt like I was fightin a uphill battle all game. Then when I finally thought I had it together, I was let down by two of the best members on my team.

My senior CB, the best on the team, easily had his worst game of his career. Then in some of the most crucial parts of the game, I put it in my QB's hands and he let me down as well. 1 fumble, 3 ints, and 7 drops dont help the cause.

After a early defensive struggle from both teams USM finally ets rolling and gets inside Buffalo's redzone. But the pass to DeAundre was dropped and tipped and intercepted in the endzone to take points directly away.

Buffalo broke a big run that kept them to their first TD and close out the first qtr. USM answered back with TD and FG to close out the first.

To start the 3rd, USM gets a TD to take control of things and go up 17-7. They force Buffalo to punt and it gets downed inside the five. I thought here for some room i would put it in my best players hands, well fumble picked up and returned for a Buffalo TD.

Thats where it all fell apart for my lads. The next 21 given up in the fourth were crushing. As USM got th bll back, Austin Davis was hit on a pass that created a lame duck and that was picked. Buffalo ran with it, and with some of the worst coverage I have ever seen got a nice passing TD. Nice from him, but there is no way my Senior AA should gotten worked like that. He never had a chance.

Ok so no biggie....right, wrong. USM gets the ball back and just walks down the field. Get into Buffalos redzone, and the post pass was wide open, the qb makes the throw and the DB jumped it nasty.

The next Buffalo possession he goes after the same corner, and well, this time he was 1000% where he needed to be....but the ball goes directly through hands and right in to the receivers bread basket. The WR was shocked, and kinda stopped, along with my FS...haha so he took it to the house.

Now im really behind and have to play catch up. It didnt take long to get back into the game though....

Now He gets the ball back, and walks down the field, He finds himself in a third and long with about 1:30 left on the clock. Im feelin great right now knoing I should be getting the ball back. Until this happens.....

Still got the ball back and was able to go down the field for maybe a glimmer of hope, but a sack and a bunch of drops killed any ambition.... The last play of the game summed it up perfectly for me.

All in all great game, but as you can see, we were meant today to win anything coming up short. (n)

gg game, good recap. You clearly had the better team, you don't know how frustrated I was with those 3rd and shorts, and couldn't get 1 or 2 yards..

There was one pick where I was SOOO PISSED, I paused for a sec. I had a HB screen setup, and it was open. Usually it's the RightBumper, unfortunately it was the Y button. I floated it up for a Int, pressing the Right Bumper. You scored right after that.

I can explain my thought process as these play happened.

I keyed in on your WR this play, so where ever he was on the field, extra attention was payed to him. SO I actually wasn't too surprised.

My defense is pretty good for what it is, so I wanted a turnover either a pick or a fumble. SO I sent almost everyone, so you had to make a quick decision. Thought about playing a zone blitz, taking away any quick throws.

The corner getting worked, Wasn't really just going after him, was going to my best WR more than anything. That one pass play with the picture, I wasn't even thinking about going to him. Your corner just played really soft D on that, So I floated it.

lol at this play. I SWORE I called a 10 yard hitch. I threw the ball right when I thought he was going to come back to it. To my surprise he kept going, As your corner jumped, I was like "NOOOOOOOOO..Oh Shit...well, I'll take it"

Now I know what play you're trying to show with the last highlight, and let me say this. You have a unfair advantage with your endzone being yellow. It was really hard to see where I had to be to make catches. One play, not this one, I had my TE I thought positioned well for a catch. I had you screened nicely, but I was a couple of feet away from the catch. I was trying my best to find the spot accurately in all that yellow, at the last minute I saw it but it was too late. This play I ignored the spot and just followed the ball.

The last couple of plays, I was up by 10, so I just wanted to make sure you didn't score quickly.

GG again man.. It really helped my recruiting, people are now interested.

lol..It was a great game, again some luck was there for Buffalo. However, I do remember that late pitch that you fumbled, that just sat on the ground for like an hour, until your WR picked it up, and one big play to D. Brown, that I tried to challenge but couldn't ( I don't think he got his feet in bounds)

I'm confident you'll probably win out and be in the top 10 again. If a team is going to take a loss, the earlier the better.

I love my D this year. The thing is, with my corners, I dont mind leaving them on islands, i think they're good enough. This this game though, I gambled and lost.

Yea I know which one youre talking about. I saw the ball and just thanked the gods.

That sounds about right, I was just shocked that he dropped the damn ball. I got what i wanted put where only he could get his hands on it and boom, he dropped it....He dropped it! (doh)

    http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/11736358

It was a designed QB draw, I was thinkin 2 yards. I wanted to run that drive, but I came out with no WR's, so when I went to audible i was screwed. Then i considered TO, but i didnt feel any better about that. Playclock was low, I thought to myself....whats the worst that could happen....(doh) lulz

I just think he got smoked, I watched the replay over and over, the release your WR got was just dumb.

    http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/11736448

This is when i knew is wasnt going to be my day...lol i remember backing my CBs way off, then you did a hot route and I left them back thinking of just keeping everything in front of me. I saw him make his jump and was really excited and had my eyes on the endzone. I just sat here and shook my head. The replays after the game, showed that the ball went DIRECTLY though the diamond on the CBs hands. Another Doh!

Oh no my friend....its not a unfair advantage because I doesnt help me either. I made the mistake in season 1 of wearing my alternate yellow uni's at home. Yellow jersey, yellow endzone, yellow circle. It still bothers me. I hate it.

Great game, glad it went the way it did. It didnt hurt my recruiting as bad as I thought it would. We already have a sign up in our LR that says, "Revenge is good and Grudges are OK. We want Buffalo again"

I wouldn't worry about having a game plan put together. Based on my first couple of games, we're worse than last season and I think your team is better than last season. I couldn't tackle your RB last year, and tackling has looked worse for me this year than last. Probably goin to be a long game for my guys. :(
