In an effort to try to add some content, I would like to start a column called Cap's Corner.
I would like to go in depth with some stats and give recognition where it is deserved and point out some things that may not be common knowledge. Today we are going to look at the Offensive side of the ball.

    QB

Did you know Philip Rivers is crushing the competition this year in all major statistical categories?

He is leading the league in passer rating (121.4) yards (3573) avg per pass play (12.8) and TD/INT ratio with his 21/12 showing.

Not only has he put up these numbers it has only taken him 280 passes to do so. That ranks him 18th in pass attempts.

    Pretty impressive.

Does anyone know who is quietly leading the league in TD passes?

Ryan Mallet - Buffalo Bills with 25

Did you know which QB leads the league in rushing?

Aaron Rodgers- 43 carries for 263 yards
Drew Brees- 37 carries for 220 yards

    RB

    LeSean McCoy or Frank Gore?
Who is having a more impressive year?

    Lets take a look

McCoy stat line: 348 carries for 2452 yards 29 TD
Gore stat line: 331 carries 2367 yards 26 TD

McCoy has scored a TD in all 13 games, and has never had a game less than 100 yards. He has posted 6 games in which have gone over 200.

Gore has 1 blemish on his gamelog as he has gone over 100 yards 12 of 13 games and scored a TD in 12 of 13 games. He has 5 games in which elapsed the 200 mark.

Congrats to the Miami Dolphins to being the only team to being able to hold Gore in check. No surprise to any that the 49ers are 12-1 with their lone loss being to the Miami Dolphins.

As both players are having record breaking seasons, the nod would have to go to McCoy at this juncture with 3 games to play. Gore has always been a great finisher, so I see this battle going to the last game.

Who leads the league in receiving out of the backfield?

    Chris Johnson- Titans- 439 yards
    Rodman Brooks- Colts- 338 yards

    WR

No one is on the level of MEGATRON and that is evident with his stat line:

    65 receptions 1762 yards 20 TDs.

There is one stat you may not know about MEGATRON: He has 8 drops this year!

Do you know where your team ranks amongst dropped passes?

There are only 4 teams that have 10 or less dropped passes this year.

    Buccaneers- 6
    Saints-7
    Rams- 9
    Falcons-10

What makes the Buccaneers stat line so impressive is this...

There are 18 players in the league right now that have 6 or more drops. As a team Bucs only have 6.
    The major offenders?

    Green -Bengals- 11
    Johnson- Lions- 8
    Johnson- Bills - 8
    Ginn- Ravens- 8

    As a team..

Panthers lead the league with 24.

Who has the most catches this year without a drop?

Randall Cobb - Green Bay- 42 receptions

    TE

Who leads the league in stats for TE?

Antonion Gates- Chargers- 54 catches for 1035 and 5 TD leads all TE in all categories

Did you know who has the hignest percentage of completed passes to their TEs?

Patriots have completed 90 of 204 completed passes to TE = 44%
Chargers have completed 66 of 202 completed passes to TE - 33%

    OL

Which teams Offensive Line led up the least/ most amount of sacks?

    Patriots-2
    49ers-5
    Eagles -10

    Worst offenders:

    Bears- 38
    Cowboys-33
    Saints- 32
    Cardinals-32

Who are the league worst individuals?

    Pouncey-C- Dolphins- 11
    Spencer- C- Bears-11

Coming soon we will be looking into the defensive side of the ball.

Makes sense being that we both have two of the better TEs in the league. Although Gates isn't my leading receiver, VJax is :). Great analysis and break down Ant! I really look forward to you doing the defensive side of the ball.

I can not speak for Rodgers, but I have played against Brees twice and in those two games he rushed a total of 5 times. ALL 5 times were due to coverage in which he stayed in the pocket, scanned his WRs, found nothing and then ran up the middle as a final resort.

I was ok with all 5 instances in which he ran.

If Johnson would hold onto the ball that would be a percentage higher:p

Trust me, I'm well aware of how many drops he has. It drives me absolutely nuts. Him and my TE should start a club.

If I had a second WR like yours my ratio might be a bit different lol. Floyd is a solid WR but drops more passes than I am comfortable with.

Absolutely, not everyone is sitting with the same deck of cards. You gotta do the best you can with what you have.

No, we do not have an absolute number. The overuse of TE is an ongoing issue that gets monitored due to its effectiveness.

With the Patriots, they have two good TE's in Gronk and Hernandez and have a lot of two TE sets so it actually makes sense that they go to their TE's a lot. I use the two TE sets a lot but more for my run game so I can see where the Patriots have a high percentage and with the Chargers, yeah it is Gates and if he is not the leading receiver I wouldn't see a problem in it.

Pats threw crosses and seam routes almost the whole game against me. With the Pats playbook its not surprising his TEs run most of those routes.
