After a 3 week + lockout week 17 finally happened for 2 teams in opposite sides of the spectrum. The Cardinals trying to firm up their second season in the playoffs and the 3-12 Jets trying to build some momentum for next season. However, this week saw a little twist in the match up with former playoff coach Miklos as interim coach due to coach Greeeeeeg playing games in Indianapolis. The game starts off with the Jets driving strong but on a big second down an Arizona LB cleans Sanchez's clock and DT W. Darter picks it up and runs it in 34 yards for the TD, 7-0 Cards. The rest of the first quarter saw a struggling Arizona passing game where John Skelton would have his arm hit more than once, and for more than on Interception on the day. Finally early in the 2nd the Jets are able to bring the game even with a TD of their own, 7-7 tied. With both offenses struggling several unproductive drives would go by until the Cardinals take back the lead with less than a minute left in the game, 14-7 Cards. The Cards received the ball at half, but still suffered from a rusty offense. with several possessions going back and forth, the Cards finally hit some stride with a 18 yard post for a TD to Roberts, 21-7 Cards. The Jets feeling the clamp coming down, decide to take the chains off and take it to the air and it pays off with an early TD to Santana Holmes for 22 yards, 21-14 Cards. The remainder of the quarter saw both defenses tighten their grip, with the Jets down by 7 on 4th and 2 at the goal line with 2 min to go they elect to go for it. In a big formation they call a draw and McKnight is taken down form behind at the 1 yard line for the stop. The Cards take over the ball on their 1 yard line, but feeling the heat Skelton runs out of the back of the endzone to give the Jets one more shot for the go ahead score after a 2 point Safety, 21-16 Cards. The Cards free kick and the Jets receive but are unable to get anything together. Final score 21-16 Cards. GG Miklos I appreciate the tough competition going into the playoffs!
