Cardinals 28 vs 49ers 17 Cardinals came into this week 3 match up against their divisional rivals San Francisco 49ers riding a 2 game losing streak to start the season. The Birds were coming off two games were they gave up 44 and 28 respectively. They knew that to have a chance to win this a game, they had to play better defense. It did not look good early but the Cardinals were able to hold the potent 49ers offense to only 17 points. “Every time we are able to hold teams to under 20 points we have a chance to win with the offensive power we have” said DT Campbell after the game. One of the turning points came early as on 4th and 1, the 49ers decided to go for it inside the Cardinals 40 yard line down 7-3. It was a great call by the 49ers coaching staff as Kaepernick found TE Vernon Davis on a quick out, but the problem was that while fighting for extra yards, Davis got hit and was out for the game with an injury. That was a huge lost for the 49ers.. Kapernick being the great player that he is found ways to keep the 49ers in the game... He started to make some great plays with his legs, to the tune of 73 yards on 5 carries and one of those carries he took to the house to help keep the Niners close. However, the 49ers could not keep the Cardinals from the end zone as QB McCadden kept finding guys open for scores. He ended up throwing for 3 TDs and just 1 INT. The final turning point on this one was a crushing hit put on HB Marcus Maddox late in the 4th when the 49ers were putting a drive together down by 11. The hit came courtesy of MLB Daryl Washington and it was picked up by SS Justin Bethel, on the next play QB McCadden found rookie sensation WR Nahjee Mann for a 43 yard score to seal the game for the Cardinals. It was the rookie’s only catch but it was an important and game deciding one. With the score 28-10 the 49ers were able to score to get close at 28-17, but it was too little too late for them on this one… Good game bro, I can’t wait for week 17 hopefully we are both in the race for a playoffs spot. Next up for the Cardinals are the (1-2) Eagles in Philly. It should be another big test for the young defense of the Cardinals.
