The defense the Cards front office envisioned this offseason is finally showing up. For the second straight game the Cardinals defense dominated against 2 high powered offenses. This week the Cards welcomed the high powered and NFC East leading Philadelphia Eagles to the desert and apparently the Eagles couldn't stand the heat as they held Ryan Tannehill to a 15.8 QB rating and only 89 yards on 9/21 passing with 3 interceptions.

Again, for the second straight week the game could not have started any worse for the Cards. They won the toss and elected to kick and on the first play from scrimmage Lasean Mccoy would take the handoff right up the middle untouched for 75 yards and the score for a quick 7-0 lead. On the ensuing possession, Sean Smith would pick off Jason Merian on a pass deep for WR Terrance King. The Eagles wasted no time driving down field but then the tide turned. Inside the 5 yard line Ryan Tannehill would connect with TE Clay Harbor over the middle but hard hitting MLB Brandon Spikes would knock it lose and the Cards would recover.

From there on out it was all Cards as they rattled off 38 unanswered points while the Eagles couldn't muster anything at all. After a field goal early in the 2nd to get it to 7-3, Jahvid Best would give the Cards the lead for good when he returned a punt nearly 75 yards for the score. Jason Merian would then connect with WR Terrance King for a 9 yard score which would prove costly as King would get injured once again and is now gone for 4 weeks. Then the Cards running game took over as Ryan Williams, Jahvid Best and Jason Merian would all score on the ground.

    FINAL SCORE: 38-7

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Cardinals defense - 3 ints, 4 sacks, 89 yards passing allowed
