The Panthers take over 1st place in the NFC South for the first time with their first win over the Buccaneers 35-17. The score is a little misleading as the Bucs was in control early but didn't capitalize on field position. Tampa Bay marched down the field to score the opening points with a 3 yard catch by WR Benn. The Panthers turned the ball over on their 1st possession but QB Freeman gave the ball back on a INT by MLB N. Harris that was returned 75 yards to tie the game. The Bucs went up by a FG after being stopped at the goal line and that allowed the Panthers to take the lead at the end the half with a 14 yard pass to rookie WR Waiters 14-10. Carolina rode that momentum to open the half with an 80 yard drive that ended with HB Williams scoring to go up by 11. HB Williams would add two more short runs in the 4th for TDs before Bucs TE Winslow ended the game's scoring on a 20 yard catch. Panthers new FS Bethea added another INT and Bucs CB Terrell Thomas had 2 INTs in the game. Panthers WR Garcon was knocked from the game with broken ribs and will miss the next game. Tampa Bay lost HB Pierre Thomas to a herniated disk and will miss 8 weeks. Good Game Doug!
