The Carolina Panthers traveled to Tampa Bay to start the 2014 season and left a stormy Tampa with a 20-10 victory. Turnovers were the difference in this match up as Carolina ended the game +2 after forcing 5 Mike Glennon Ints. Early on the weather seemed to play a factor as the Bucs hard hitting defense forced fumbles on back to back Carolina possessions. RB DeAngelo Williams found himself riding the bench after coughing up the rock twice. Luckily the Buccaneers were not able to capitalize. Up 3-0 in the 2nd, Cam Newton connected with TE Greg Olsen for a 14 yard TD putting the Panthers up 10-0 at the break. To start the second half Tampa Bay came out firing on all cylinders. Doug Martin scored on a TD run and then a FG for the Bucs tied the game heading into the fourth. Tampa Bay mounted another drive midway through the fourth quarter and looked to take the lead. From inside the redzone QB Mike Glennon threw a pass that was picked off by Carolina CB Josh Norman, his second of the day, and it was off to the races for Norman taking it 78 yards for a TD putting the Panthers back in front 17-10. Glennon would then be picked off again on his very next throw resulting in another FG making the score 20-10. The Panther defense then held on and after forcing a turnover on downs Cam and company knelled a couple times securing the victory.
