The Dome was crazy loud as if they were pumping artificial crowd noise and it seemed to slow both teams until the Panthers were able to drive the field and put the first points on the board with a Cam Newton to Marcus Gooden 15 yard TD pass. Both teams would go back and forth with neither able to get much going the rest of the half with exception of a Falcon 40 yard FG midway through the 2nd quarter. In the first meeting this season the Panthers defense went hard at Rookie QB B.J Hartley sacking him 6 times and picked him off 4 times. This time Veteran Matt Ryan started for the Falcons but it was different QB same result. The Carolina defense sacked Matty Ice 4 times and picked him off 6 times, 4 of those went to Rookie CB Javier Henderson. The Panthers finally had a little success running the ball and in the 3rd quarter RB Dernard Robinson punched it in from the goaline extending Carolinas lead to 14-3. Before the quarter ended Carolina stretched the lead to 21-3 when Cam scrambled out of the pocket and tossed the ball to Kelvin Benjamin just past the defenders reach for a 49 yard TD reception. Atlanta was able to find the endzone on their next possession. Carolina pinned the Falcons deep in their own territory to start the 4th quarter when Atlanta QB Ryan saw the Panthers bringing the heat and launched up a bomb to WR Raymond who had a couple steps on the defender. Raymond caught the pass in stride and took it 88 yards for the score giving Atlanta a glimmer of hope. But after Carolina gave the ball back to Atlanta, Ryan would connect with Carolina CB Henderson on one of four passes and a few plays later Dernard Robinson sprung outside for a 27 yard TD scamper putting the game out of reach. Final score 28-10 Panthers.
