Twice while I have been on Tradition today my computer suddenly freaks out and a rogue security product posing as Win 7 Home Security 2012 pops up saying my laptop is infected etc etc. The first time I successfully removed it...it just happened again a few minutes ago and once again I successfully removed it....I am not sure if this is a problem linked to the site but I thought I would throw this out there in case anyone else experiences this virus while browsing the forums.

I dealt with something posing as a Windows security thing recently as well. Like a week or so I think? Like you said Mas, weather it has anything to do with the site-- dunno.

    Figured I'd throw this in.

Trojans have a way of waiting to pounce, so speak. While its possible that you got it from TSO, I'm sure you would hear it from a lot more people if it were actually coming from here. Chances are you got it from someone else and its just "activating" while you're browsing the web.

I would be completely shocked if it came from TSO.

So would I. I am thinking Firefox is bugged because the Trojan reared its ugly head again last night. Driving me nuts

Try a malware bytes scan - its free and pretty solid.

If MWB doesn't work (which it doesn't when I've had this kind of thing)...

Combofix should be able to get rid of it.

I routinely scan this site for malware, it isn't coming from us.

I think it was Firefox. I uninstalled it from my computer. Downloaded a new registry, used Rkill to destroy the processes this bug was running off and am currently using MalwareBytes to scan....currently it has found 5 things...hope i am finally getting somewhere.

You won't ever go back to Firefox.

FF is like driving miss daisy. Chrome is like driving a Ferrari. You tell me which is better?

Yeah did the MWB scan both times and cleaned it up both times. Just downloaded the free Comodo Firewall to see if that helps prevent it happening a third time.

Try this, MalwareBytes cannot remove this virus by itself.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-win-7-antispyware-2012

Follow the instructions exactly as it tells you. Haven't had it come back yet after I did this. I have also uninstalled Firefox and am using Chrome, don't intend to go back to FF either.
