I've listed below the position changes which the CFM allows us to make. Keep in mind that you are only able to make drastic changes to your roster during the off-season. The roster position change options are more restricting during the regular season. However, with SOME positions you may still edit your depth chart if you want to move a player to a different position within the CFM limitations. It just wouldn't be reflected on the team roster which would affect your minimum roster requirements.

The CFM allows us to change a player's position even if they are the only player on the roster at their current position. The CFM also allows us to change the player to different positions multiple times. So if you change your mind, you can always shift the player back to where he was or a different position altogether if it is an option.

The change option screen does NOT indicate what the player's overall rating change will be. You will need to view that from the roster screen. There are some drastic increases and decreases with each change. Obviously, moving players to certain positions will have its advantages and disadvantages. For example; Jermon Bushrod (Bears) is 89ovr at his natural LT position. At LG he is 87ovr; C he is 87ovr; RG he is 87ovr; and RT he is 94ovr. Another example; J.T. Thomas (Bears) is 67ovr at his natural LOLB position. At LE he is 50ovr; RE he is 56ovr; DT he is 71ovr; ROLB he is 67ovr; and MLB he is 61ovr.

Keep in mind that if you change a player's position, the position change options for that player will be limited to whatever position you are changing them to. So if you were to change your LOLB to a DT, you will be limited to changing him from a DT to a DE. So if you want to put the player back to his natural LOLB position, you would need to change him from DT to a DE first, and then from DE to LOLB.

There is a transaction log in the CFM which keeps track of personnel changes throughout the ENTIRE league (yay). However, the transaction log is limited to the most recent stage of the current season (pre-season, regular season, off-season). Also, the reason I am mentioning the transaction log with the position change information is that the transaction log does NOT keep track of position changes.

The CFM position change options are as follows...

    OFF-SEASON

    QB: HB, FB, WR, TE

    HB: FB, WR

    FB: HB, TE

    WR: NONE

    TE: FB, WR

DE: LE, RE, DT, LOLB, ROLB

    DT: LE, RE

OLB: LOLB, ROLB, MLB, RE, LE

    MLB: LOLB, ROLB

CB / FS / SS: ALL INTERCHANGEABLE

    P / K: INTERCHANGEABLE

    QB:

    HB: NONE; DEPTH = FB

    FB: NONE; DEPTH = HB

LT / RT: INTERCHANGEABLE; DEPTH = O-LINE, RT CAN PLAY TE

    LG / RG: INTERCHANGEABLE; DEPTH = O-LINE

    C: NONE; DEPTH = O-LINE

LE / RE: INTERCHANGEABLE; DEPTH = DE, DT, OLB

LOLB / ROLB: INTERCHANGEABLE; DEPTH = OLB, MLB, DE

Keep in mind that these are what the CFM allows. They do NOT reflect what position change parameters Jim and Michael will be setting for our league.

I should also note that the CFM will be initiated at the pre-season phase which is considered part of the regular season. Therefore, if you plan on selecting a team and changing the defensive scheme, you will NOT be able to make any formal position changes until the off-season. The only shifts that you will be able to make, other than those which are interchangeable (LT / RT, LG / RG, LE / RE, LOLB / ROLB, FS / SS), are the changes via your depth chart.
