Would anyone else support this? My game took an hour and 15 minutes last night (may have been longer to be honest) and it just felt too long. I think moving from 8 to 7 would not only cut down on how long each game takes to play, but should also cut down on scoring a bit as well.

    Thoughts?

I personally like the 8 minute quarters. If you throw the ball a ton you should expect a longer game.

TCU had 70 plays and I had 60 in our game, FWIW. We had guys hitting the mid-80s in plays last season.

No, leave them as is. # of plays are about right, and the games feel right in terms of length. Gives time for comebacks as well.

I say yes go to 7. I run the ball all game and it still seems like a lifetime

I dont think we should change it. Well be one of the few online dynasties that run less than 8 minutes. Yardage and number of plays looks good in comparison to real life. If they feel too long, maybe turn on conservative tempo?

I was actually going to suggest this too. I'm 100% in support of moving to 7 minute quarters. 8 minutes feels too long to me anymore.

Well we've only heard from less than half of the members, but I just dont understand why we want to change. Because it's too long? Then turn on conservative game planning. Some of us want not only "sim" gameplay, but realistic "sim" stats. Cutting essentially around 20 plays per team out, isnt going to make it very realistic.

The data I pulled from last season showed we averaged 113 plays per game. So Pa has a point. However, I'd theorize that a lot of us were running chew clock in the second half of blow outs so that number is much lower than it would be if the games were competitive.

So mathmatically we average 3.5 plays per minute. If you knock off 4 minutes from the game, that'll result in 14 less plays per game total. Putting us in the 99 plays per game range. I think if games were competitive which they are showing to be on heisman, that we'll make the difference up getting us back up to 113 by not needing to use chew clock as much in last season. Therefore we could have games with a similar # of plays in a shorter time period. Again, just my theory though.

    Thoughts?

We should only change one thing at a time. Let the first 6 weeks play out on 8 minutes and re-evaluate at that time. Lets keep this apples to apples.

I have no issues with 8 minutes and would have no issues making an adjustment to 7 if that is what everyone wanted.

Ok........I'm just saying that the phrase "I could care less" means that you do care. What you meant to say was "I couldn't care less".

I'm just being annoying for a change, sorry masler.

"I could care less" is a pet peeve of mine, along with "irregardless".

I often answer with, "Oh yeah? How much less could you care?"

So funny, I used to use irregardless until another person told me the same. I have no issues with it, but understand in some areas it is considered as improper. Now I stick with regardless.

I don't have a preference either way, games dont seem too long to me but I wouldn't be upset with the change to 7 either.
