The Chargers came into this weeks game 0-2 and looking to turn their early miss fortunes around.
With the struggling Chiefs coming into San Diego now would be a good time to try and turn the team
around. The Chargers would strike first in the game with a 29 yard TD strike from Patterson to Morgan.
That gave the Chargers an early 7-0 lead. That score would be the only scoring done in the 1st quarter
as both teams would go back and forth defensively. In the second quarter as time wound down it would
be the defense that would but post on the board as LaRon Landry would force Jamaal Charles to fumble
and rookie Quayshawn Odom would scoop the ball up and rumble 35 yards giving the Chargers a 14-0 lead going into halftime. The second half would be more of the same as both team's defenses would

make it difficult for the offenses. The Chargers offense would finally get something going late in the 3rd.
Greg Zuerlein would hit a 55 yard FG and Ryan Matthews would score on a 6 yard scamper giving the
Chargers a 24-0 lead. The Chiefs would put points on the board late in the 4th ending the game 24-7.

CHARGERS BALANCED ATTACK HOLDS OFF GIANTS
    27-21

Howard Gresham snags a beautiful 1 handed pass in his debut

    New York, NY~

The Chargers opened their season on the road as they traveled to New York to face the Giants. The Chargers had a lot of people watching to see how the team would handle all of the changes made during the off season. Many believed that trading away fan favorites Chucky Morgan and Kailyn Patterson was the beginning of the end even before the season started. The Chargers used that trade to secure 2 additional early 1st round picks giving them picks at 2, 8, and 12. With those picks the Chargers drafted talent that would fit what McFly Investments CEO wants in his organization. "We felt this was the right decision and in the long run we can look back on this and say it was a great move." stated owner/GM Kaz McFly. The trip to New York was the first test for the new look Chargers.

New Rookie signal caller Demond Coleman took the field and showed poise throughout the game as he commanded the offense and moved them up and down the field. Coleman proved that he can play in this league as he used his arm as well as his legs to get the Chargers in great position to score throughout the game. Coleman finished the game 16/24 156 yards 2 Tds along with 3 rushes for 20 yards and 1 TD. "It was a great outing for us tonight. We went out and did everything that coach asked of us. We will celebrate tonight and get back to work in the morning." said Coleman. Coleman was taken by the Chargers in the 1st and is expected to be the leader of the Chargers squad.

The Chargers also had another guy drafted with big shoes to fill. Howard Gresham was brought in to replace all pro Chucky Morgan who was a fan favorite in San Diego. Gresham is 6'6 243 pounds. He is not as fast as Morgan was but he is a monster to defend and will go up and get the ball. Despite what the stats showed Gresham has the Chargers staff very excited. Gresham finished the game with only 28 yards and 1 TD but he had a couple of highlight catches as well as some great blocking on the outside. That is one reason for Isiah Crowell pounding the pound for over 100 yards. Look for the Chargers to get Gresham the ball more as the season progresses. As mentioned Crowell ran for over 100 yards in his debut as a Charger. Crowell was FA pick up this past off season who the chargers expect big things from as well.

The Chargers 1st pick in the draft. MLB Brody Sheppard was all over the field. If he was not making the play he was forcing the ball carrier back into traffic. The Chargers are hoping that they have found the AFC's Luke Kuechly. "This is my life. This is what I do. When I step on that field I'm on a mission and I wont be stopped." said Sheppard. Sheppard a product of "Tha U" is indeed going to be a problem for opposing offenses. Sheppard finished the game with 5 tackles and a sack. The Chargers are 1-0 and hope this continues next week as they face the Washington Redskins.
