    Chicago Bears Draft Grades

    1st Round 24th Pick

LG Adrian Bradley ~ 85 Overall
    Height: 6'4"
    Weight: 338 Pounds

The Bears selected LG Adrian Bradley with their 1st round pick with good value. Bradley projected to be taken 16th overall fell to the 24th selection in the draft. Bradley, known for his mean streak drove a blitzing LBer into the ground during the combine, kicking him in the throat then spitting on him in front of scouts. This apparently raised red flags to some teams, but he fits in well on a young mean Bears offensive line who dominate on the ground.

    Grade: A

    3rd Round 24th Pick

WR Ayron Ellison ~ 75 Overall
    Height: 6'1"
    Weight: 209 Pounds

Trading away Elite WR Brandon Marshall this offseason to the Tennessee Titans, the Bears looked to get younger at the WR position. Ellison projected to go late in the 2nd round, fell to Chicago who felt he was good value late in the 3rd round. He has a thick build and solid hands - lacking in speed but has good route running ability. Look for the Bears to develop Ellison in the mold of current Bears WR Alshon Jeffery.

    Grade: B-

    4th Round 24th Pick

LE Akiee Avery ~ 71 Overall
    Height: 6'4"
    Weight: 254

When Julius Peppers retired this past offseason, Chicago needed depth along it's stocky defensive line. Enter Akiee Avery who is solid but not spectacular against the run and pass rushing. Avery spent much of his college career as a reliable anchor, with a good football IQ and average tools. What he lacks in elite talent he makes up for with his Motor. Expect this LE to contribute on special teams and in a rotating defensive Bears line.

    Grade: C

    5th round 24th Pick

QB Mitch Shultz ~ 76 Overall
    Height: 6'5"
    Weight: 245

With the resigning of QB Jay Cutler, the Bears appear to be set at quarterback for the next couple of years. With this draft offering solid QB's, the Bears snagged the big armed Mitch Shultz in the 5th round. Although Shultz hails when a small school, he originally committed to Oklahoma before he experienced academic issues and was unable to enroll. This prospect must work on his accuracy to be effective in the NFL, but boasts an NFL arm and prototypical size. Look for him to develop well under Coach Marc Trestman.

    Grade: B-

    Chicago Bears Free Agency Recap

Notable Losses: RE Julius Peppers, WR Brandon Marshall, CB Tim Jennings, CB Kelvin Hayden, CB Zach Bowman, MLB D.J. Williams, LOLB James Anderson

Notable Signings: WR Jacoby Jones, WR Josh Cribbs, HB Le'Veon Bell, LG Ryan Batholomew, C Brian Schwenke, RT Geoff Schwartz, C Josh Samuda, DT Kevin Williams, LOLB Paul Posluszny, MLB Desmond Bishop, RE Mark Anderson, CB Javier Arenas, CB Khalid Wooten, CB Nolan Carroll

This offseason the Bears got younger and reloaded; which is a scary thing for the NFC North. The trade of Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall, brought two starting players in young stud center Brian Schwenke and young CB Khalid Wooten. The Bears also were able to add a 1st round pick in the 2015 draft further adding to their youth movement.

The emergence of WR Alshon Jeffery and the signing of WR's Jacoby Jones and Josh Cribs gives the Bears solid threats in the slot and outiside. 22 year old RB Le'Veon Bell will look to be a fixture in the backfield alongside Matt Forte this year with a younger revamped offensive line.

The defensive line & LBing core got an injection as well acquiring former Vikings DT Kevin Williams, RE Mark Anderson, LOLB Paul Posluszny and MLB Desmond Bishop. They also resigned CB Charles Tillman to a 1 year deal adding CB Javier Arenas to a 4 year deal.

This Chicago Bears team looks to get back to the postseason and be a fixture there for years to come.
