On Saturday, August 27th, two of the UK's most powerful offspring will face off.

    Representing Australia - V8 Supercars

Representing the USA - Stock Cars

Will the Aussie cars have an identity crisis when they run on an oval? Will the stock cars be able to turn right? The only way to find out is to be there!

    The tour
    Sedona Full - 5 laps
    Sunset Oval - 10 laps
    Silverstone GP - 15 laps

    Time
TBD - Tentatively 10pm Eastern, but if the folks further West (or East) can make it earlier, I'm fine with that. Just want to get as many on board as possible!

    Rules:
    No upgrades
    Tuning is allowed
    No STM or Autobrake
Traction Control and ABS won't be disabled this time!
    Simulation damage

    Prizes
Based on leaderboard standings after Silverstone
    1st - 250,000cr
    2nd - 200,000cr
    3rd - 150,000cr
    4th - 100, 000cr
    5th - 75,000cr
    6th - 50,000cr
    7th - 30,000cr
    8th - 20,000cr

    Rookie Bonuses
From highest to lowest finishing rookies (True Skill Amateur or Beginner)
    150,000cr
    100,000cr
    75,000cr
    50,000cr
    40,000cr

    Interesting!

So are they both the same PI, these two cars? I haven't checked. Would you allow the lower one to be upgraded to the same PI as the higher rated one? Or are you wanting to see the raw car vs. car with no equalizing of the two?

The Stock Cars are 713, 714, and 715 PI. The V8 Supercars are 717 and 720. The stats are similar, with a slight edge to the stock cars (even with lower PI).I think raw car vs raw car is the way to go.

The Supercars have a weight advantage and a 6 speed gearbox, while the stock cars have more horsepower and a 4 speed. Bone stock, neither have adjustable brakes and only the final drive ratio can be adjusted transmission wise, but everything else can be adjusted.

    Nice... Sounds interesting.

I don't see anything standing in my way that I couldn't race... However I'd like to race in a relatively full lobby this time... So let's see what kind of interest this garners.

I would be interested, but dont know my rl schedule at the moment. Weekend nights are sometimes tough. If I can go, I would probably be a stock car.

Yeah I'm hoping to use the stock car, since I've already run the V8's before.

Looks like it's 3-1 in favor of stock cars so I'll probably go with the V8 since I already have one in my garage anyway I think.

    Good to see some interest!

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. Just got back from Rally West Virginia. I drove up on Thursday, then got started setting up the course around 7am on Friday, and back from the rally stages around 3am. I went back out to the stages at about 8am on Saturday and cleared the course around 8pm. Then I had a 7 hour drive home today.

It was a very, very long and a very, very dusty weekend!

One of the guys I met up there (a co-driver) is really active in local racing and is getting me set up to start working some SCCA and NASA racing events.

So as it currently stands, we have 3 stock cars and 2 V8 Supercars.

We have room for 3 more drivers (I'd like to get 4 of each car to keep things interesting).

    Any more takers?

DelZaster I'll probably try to do some tuning on the V8 but I might end up just asking you to put your tune on it in the end.

Oh, and to make things even more interesting, I may be using my wheel for this race (depends on how practice goes).

I was messing around with my xbox wheel today and I think I might have figured out why someone gave it to a thrift store. It had the wrong cable connecting the pedals and wheel so if I can find one I might give my wheel a shot in practice at least.

I've got the Microsoft wheel. I may order a Fanatec in the near future. I think I'm going to force myself to start FM4 with the wheel.

When I first plugged it in I was running about 5 seconds off of where I was with the controller at Sedona. I did some tweaking to deal with the wheel and I've gotten some of the time back, but not all. It's going to take a lot more tuning to get comfortable running this car with the wheel. It's kind of funny - I got to where I could run 10-15 laps of testing without incident, but every time I've set up a private multiplayer race I spin on the first lap...

And to get used to the wheel, yesterday I ran the F, E, and D class endurance races from the Event List. And I set new leaderboard times for myself during each event. It's just going to take some tuning and practice, practice, practice.
