Cleveland fell to the New York Jets in a miserable 24 - 3 loss. Cleveland's offense failed to find a rhythm early on, with Mohammed Wilkerson destroying the Browns Offensive Line for an explosive 4 tackles, a sack and a FF. Until a brilliant 29 yard run by promising back Christine Michael, the Browns were sitting at negative rushing yards deep into the 1st quarter. Despite a brilliant FF on a Kick Return and a beautiful interception by Tramon Williams, Clevelands offense couldn't capitalize on early NY mistakes. Cleveland WRs not named Josh Gordon couldn't seem to haul in their balls, forcing Mettenberger into sub 50% completion percentage and throwing 2 picks, one on a hail mary and another on a forced pass. The Browns began to shy away from their passing attack as Mettenberger lost faith in his WRs. On the opposite side of the ball, the Browns defense put up a decent effort, but was unable to stop Jace Amaro from making a statement on Sunday. He led the Jets with 6 catches, 73 yards and a TD. The Jets offense wasn't spectacular, but it did what the Browns offense couldn't - score.
