clemson @ GaTech GaTech was 4:11 from their 1st loss on the season and a likely national title killer. With Parker throwing a 1 yard pass to the right corner of the endzone where WR McNeal practiced his NFL skills getting two feet in before going out of bounds, Clemson was sporting a 42-27 lead. The odds were stacked against Jaybo Shaw. He'd already thrown 4 interceptions on the game and his best RB, Marcus Wright tore his pectoral muscle in the 1st half of this game, forcing him out for this week and likely next week's game. The Clemson defense pinned their ears back all game and ferociously rushed Shaw forcing him into terrible decision and being sacked 5 times on the game. Shaw wasn't thinking...he began to notice the middle of the field was open when they'd rush 6-7 guys every play. GaTech would inch closer with 3:29 on the clock when Shaw nailed Snyder over the middle, breaking a tackle and getting a great block from Tyler Melton inched closer for a now 42-33 lead. GaTech would go for two here, which could have bitten them in the butt but Smith scored on a toss. Down by 7, Clemson had destiny within their hands. 1st play, RB Harper ran for no gain. 2nd down, Parker hit McNeal over the middle for 6 yards. A 3rd down and 4, Parker dropped back and tried to go deep to McNeal again but Tarrant, who's been playing a great CB, intercepted the deep throw and setting up the game-tying TD for GaTech. Shaw got to work, throwing a 10 yard slant to Melton. Next play Smith ran up the gut for 9 yards. The big play on this drive was a 24 yard strike from Shaw to 6'6" Greco (who was HUGE in this game) to bring them down to the 5 yard line. With 58 seconds to go, Smith ran one in off tackle to tie this game up! There was still work to do, as Clemson had 2 timeouts left and was poised to win this game in regulation. 1st down Parker dropped back and couldn't find nobody and tried to scramble but MLB Brandon Watts tackled him for a 1 yard gain. 2nd down, he threw to Douglas on a corner route for a big 29 yard gain. Up to midfield and with 50 seconds to go, Parker tried to hit Douglas again on a slant but almost was picked by Cooper Taylor. 2nd down, Parker went to the air and nailed Allen on a drag for 6 yards. 3rd and 4 again, Parker would go to Harper but was tackled short of the 1st and Clemson punted. GaTech wanted to take one shot at getting a big play. They called a streak for Melton down the sideline. Shaw took the snap but was instantly under pressure by Malliciah Goodman (who had 3 sacks on the game), he ran away from Melton running the streak and tried to rush upfield but was manhandled by SO-LOLB Quandon Christian who injured Shaw. GaTech let the remaining seconds waste away as they headed into OT, now without Shaw and Wright. GaTech won the toss and chose to play defense. Clemson wouldn't amount to anything on offense besides a 5 yard run by Harper and was forced to kick a FG. JR-K Dawson Zimmerman, who missed a FG earlier wide right would line up for the short FG...and promptly MISS again hitting the crossbar. GaTech just had to hit the FG but they rammed it down Clemson's throats with a Shaw 6 yard run, a Watson 4 yard run and Smith for 5 yards. On 2nd and 5 and on the 10 yard line, backup QB Jordan Luallen handed off to Smith who ran hard up the gut, breaking one tackle and dragging the Clemson defender into the endzone for the 48-42 win in OT.
