    Clemson Tigers Game Summaries

Week 1: Clemson vs. Middle Tennessee State

Clemson began the 2009 season with overmatched Middle Tennesee. The game was never in doubt as Clemson was able to rest all of their starters the entire 2nd half.

Coach Geaux had this to say about his first game as head coach of the Tigers, "It sure feels good to get the first one. I have to give all the credit to the players. As long as C.J. (Spiller) stays healthy, we have a chance in every game."

Asked about his expectations for the season, Coach Geaux added, "Obviously I was brought here to get the program to the next level. We can't expect to do that in one year. It's a process. However, the first step of that process is to generate interest in our program. Winning is probably the best way to do that. We have some very talented veteran players that want to win now. We'll take this thing one game at a time and hopefully when the season is over, we'll have given our players and our fans something to be proud of."

Next up for Clemson is Georgia Tech. Tech's offense features a deadly fleXbox One attack combined with a revamped passing offense that was implemented in the offseason by Coach Juggs. Clemson will likely need to avoid giving up the big play if they want to start the ACC slate with a victory.

Week 2: Clemson at Georgia Tech

Clemson opened ACC play with a victory over Georgia Tech and coach Juggs.

The game was mostly a battle of field position (the actual user game, not the simmed one). Georgia Tech had great success using the fleXbox One on the first drive, but seemed to lose confidence in the scheme when Clemson's D stiffened in the red zone. Clemson was able to move the ball early on some nice runs from C.J. Spiller, but the lack of a passing attack soon allowed Tech to stack the box. The teams traded punts frequently and on occasion managed field goals. In the end, the Tigers had just enough to hold off the Yellow Jackets.

Next up for Clemson is Boston College.

How bad was the simulation pummeling? Hopefully it was somewhat close like our game was so it doesn't bounce me totally out of the polls.

Week 3: Clemson vs Boston College

Clemson is now 2-0 in the ACC following their 42-17 victory over Boston College.

On a windy day in Clemson Memorial Stadium, things did not start out well for the Tigers. Ford fumbled the opening kickoff. The Eagles recovered the fumble and returned the ball to Clemson's seven yard line. On 3rd and goal the Eagles were able to score on a play action pass to take an early 7-0 lead.

After a 3 and out on the following drive, it looked like this one would be a battle throughout. However, the Eagles fumbled the punt and Clemson recovered with great field position. A few plays later, Spiller punched it in for the first of his three scores and the game was tied at 7. Spiller would finish with 164 yards on 34 carries.

Clemson broke the game open in the 2nd quarter, scoring 3 TDs and took a 28-7 lead into the locker room. Boston College would not give up, as they scored the only 10 points of the 3rd quarter, closing the gap to 28-17. Clemson's D would tighten up in the 4th and the Eagles would not be able to contain the Tigers passing attack any longer. Clemson added two short passing TDs early in the 4th to close out the scoring.

Korn finished the game with 234 yards on 19 completions and no interceptions. The Clemson defense collected 6 sacks and forced 3 interceptions.

Next up for Clemson is #13 TCU.

    Week 4: Clemson vs TCU

Clemson ran their record to 4-0 with a 44-6 victory over TCU.

The 1st quarter was a defensive battle as TCU was getting heavy pressure on Korn and Clemson was only able to manage a field goal. However, their aggressive blitzing would backfire in the 2nd quarter as Clemson's line picked up a 7 man blitz for just enough time for Korn to find Ashe open over the middle of the field for a 59 yard touchdown. The Horned Frogs defense never recovered after that play.

C.J. Spiller continued his fantastic season with 231 yards on 18 carries and 3 TDs in under 3 quarters of action. Korn would finish 11 for 16 for 232 yards and that one TD to Ashe. Ashe finished with 106 yards receiving.

The Clemson defense held TCU to under 200 total yards of offense, forced one turnover, and only gave up 2 field goals.

Next up for Clemson is a trip to face currently undefeated Maryland.

    Week 5: Clemson at Maryland

Clemson is now 5-0 after a 42-7 stomping of Maryland.

After throwing a pick on the Tigers' first possession, Korn settled down and had a fantastic game. He would finish 15 of 21 for 231 yards and 4 TDs. Maryland put 8 men in the box for most of the game, which allowed Korn to find receivers all over the field.

C.J. Spiller continued to impress with 165 yards on 22 carries and 1 TD. Ford led the receivers with 4 receptions for 57 yards and 2 TDs.

The Clemson defense held Maryland to under 200 total yards of offense, despite not causing any turnovers. Maryland scored on the last offensive play of the game to avoid the shutout.

Next up for Clemson is a bye week before hosting Wake Forest.

Good to see someone putting Korn to good use. I have them in Tradition and he sprays the ball all over the place for me.

I find he does fine unless I try to lead receivers. If I do that he'll miss by 15 yards sometimes. It also doesn't hurt that Spiller is a beast.

Week 7: Clemson vs Wake Forest

Clemson is now 6-0 after a 44-13 victory over the Demon Deacons.

After falling behind 3-0, C.J. Spiller took the game into his hands by finding the end zone on Clemson's next two possessions. Clemson would never look back.

Spiller continued to impress with 152 yards on 24 carries and 3 TDs.

Korn would finish 18 of 24 for 292 yards and 2 TDs. Dye led the receivers with 6 receptions for 121 yards and 1 TD. Ford added 105 yards on 5 receptions and a TD.

The Clemson defense held a balance attack by Wake Forest to just 3-10 on 3rd down conversions. The Tigers' defense was tough all night as they forced two interceptions.

Next up for Clemson is a trip to face #20 Miami.

    Week 7: Clemson at Miami

Clemson improved to 7-0 with a hard fought 34-10 victory over Miami.

The victory did not come without some hurricane damage for Clemson. C.J. Spiller went down with a torn pectoral and will be out for 3 weeks. This means he will miss the crucial game with Florida State.

The good news for Clemson is that backup running back Jamie Harper was able to fill in just fine for Spiller. He had 157 yards on 18 carries and 2 TDs.

Clemson failed to get the ball in the end zone on their first two possessions as they settled for two field goals and a 6-0 lead. Although it kept the score close, Miami never got things going on offense until Clemson had built a 20 point lead.

Defensive end Bowers for Clemson had a fantastic game collecting 8 tackles including 3 sacks.

Next up for Clemson is a visit from the Midshipmen.

Not wanting to look ahead too much but Georgia Tech can't help but be pumped about a possible rematch with Clemson in the ACC championship game.

There is a long way to go. I still have to face Florida State and possibly play the ACC Championship. I think I have to run the table to have a title shot. I'd feel better is Spiller didn't go down.
