There are rumblings in Columbia, South Carolina that Head Football Coach King Cepps and Athletic Director Eric Hyman are far apart in negotiations for a new contract to keep Coach Cepps at USC. Hyman is playing hard ball because the Gamecocks haven't been able to bring home an SEC Title.
    Stay tuned...

Where will King land? Will there be a major coaching shuffle in CoC? Could there possibly be conference expansion?

I think he jumps ship and makes the Big12 a 5 user conference as he takes over the Longhorns

Got it from a source close to the situation that there are some Big East schools ready to throw major cash at King to take over at their school and build it into a winner like he did at South Carolina.

Will another coach leave first? Or will King's decision set off a chain reaction that completely shakes the Crop to its core? If a spot is opens up in the SEC East, will another coach be brave enough to jump in head first? Could the SEC become ever more beastly? Questions, questions.

Could a vacant spot in the SEC East allow for another State of Florida Coach the opportunity to leave his perch attop the ACC and become the coach of a rival school?

College Football Live reported today that through phone calls, the list of schools interested in the services of King Cepps are a few unnamed Big East schools, UCLA, Navy, Michigan, and Michigan State. This is a developing story with a lot of moving parts, so expect a lot of things to change between now and the end of the season. Bottom line is there is a lot of uncertainty in South Carolina and one of the hottest coaches in the nation might be on the move.

Right now we are focused on trying to bring a National Championship to Miami, it's been far too long since the U has been The U. We've built something special here that would be hard to leave. I will say this though, there are a few jobs out there in college and the NFL that when they come calling, you have to listen...

As I stated before, we are focused on winning a National Championship this year. We're off to a great start and should be in good position to challenge if we can continue to improve.

Joe Schad says that some SEC coaches are wondering if Coach JCA has what it takes to make it in the SEC. He hasn't shown an ability to beat Coach RTP consistently when he was at North Carolina and Florida State and has never been able to beat JFunk. With just 3 lifetime wins over the 3 premier coaches who would still be in the SEC, is he in over his head with this potential move?

Word out of Tuscaloosa Coach JFunk says, "I have the best job in the country. I'll let those other guys go crazy. I am here to stay."

Is Joe Schead related to David Schad? If so, I would take what he says with a grain of salt.

Most likely. Not my cup of tea. I like to shape young lives, I love recruiting and Tuscaloosa is my home.

I expect the rumors to get even stronger if/when the Gamecocks and Hurricanes record their first loss of the season. I'd even argue that with all this distraction, JCA and/or King may even drop a game they were favored to win! ; )
