    College Football Pick’Em 2013 Edition:

    Entry Page -> http://opbgn.startlogic.com/cfball2013/tournamententry.html

    Past Champions:
    2012-> Connor
    2011-> Jello1717

Welcome to Year #3 of the College Football Pick’Em! This year’s edition will be focused entirely on the Regular Season of College Football. However, I will also be throwing in an ode to the upcoming College Football Playoff.

Your objective will be to pick the winner of each of the games straight up(no point spreads) and we will also be utilizing the traditional Confidence Points system to make things a bit more interesting.

    Format:
-> Weeks 1-12 – Regular Season. Your score for the first 12 weeks will be determined by taking your top 10 scores and adding them together. This allows for people to still stay in the game even if they forget to participate up to twice and it won’t affect those who are in the game for the whole run as you will then earn points only based on your top 10 scores. In other words, one bad week won't hurt you.
[In each week, the number of games will be 15 -> Max Total of 120.]
->Week 13 - Semifinals [The top 4 players in terms of points from the Regular Season will compete in two semifinal match ups, 1v4 and 2v3. In this case, the players will be going head-to-head instead of going up against the entire group. In this round the number of games will go up to 20.]
->Week 14 – Championship [The final two survivors will go to head to head in the ultimate challenge: To correctly pick the winners of 30 games of the penultimate regular season week.]

    Prizes:
To the winner goes the spoils. I will be awarding a $25 Amazon Gift Card to the winner of the pool. I will send this electronically so make sure you have a valid e-mail address.

    Scoring:
This year we will be using the Confidence Point System. Your objective starts off the same, you will be asked to predict the winner of each game, straight up. However, you will then also place a point value ranging from 1 to the max number of games that week. If you get the game correct, you score that number of points. Here’s the catch though, you can only use each number once! The idea is that you will want to put the HIGHEST point value on the game you are most confident in the result and the LEAST point value on the game you are least confident. It adds an element of strategy to the pool which I like.

    Pool Schedule:
    Regular Season:
Week 1 -> Week of Thursday, August 29th
Selections Due: 6:00 PM EST Thursday, August 29th
Week 2 -> Week of Saturday, September 7th

Selections Due: Noon PM EST ; November 16th

    Playoffs:
Semifinals: Week of Saturday, November 23rd [20 Games]
Finals: Week of Friday, November 29th and Saturday, November 30th [30 Games]

    How to Enter Your Picks:
For each week, you will go to the website listed below and submit your picks:
    http://opbgn.startlogic.com/cfball2013/tournamententry.html.

I will make a post in this thread when it is updated for the next week along with tagging anyone who has signed up.

Expect the pool updated each and every Sunday! (The only exception will be Week #1 as there is a Sunday Afternoon Game; likely Week #2 will be up Monday instead!)

    Standings:
I will post the link here when we get started.

If you have any questions, please let me know! It should be another fun season! I promise as well that the software should work a ton better this year as I'm not going to be doing what I did last year with all of the different separate entry sites.

Yeah mine are iffy. I picked towards the Pac12 a bit but I'm confident in those. My biggest worry though is me having Colorado over Colorado St

Picked them, too. But only gave them a '2' in the confidence points, so no big deal either way.

So what do the "experts" of TSO think?

    N. Carolina at S. Carolina - (20-0 S. Carolina)
Mississippi at Vanderbilt - (12-8 Vanderbilt)
Washington State at Auburn - (18-2 Auburn)
Northwestern at California - (14-6 Northwestern)
Colorado vs Colorado State - (11-9 Colorado State)
Penn State vs Syracuse - (18-2 Penn State)
BYU at Virginia - (11-9 BYU)
Boise State at Washington - (16-4 Washington)
Alabama vs Virginia Tech - (20-0 Alabama)
Georgia at Clemson - (12-8 Clemson)
LSU at TCU - (16-4 LSU)
Purdue at Cincinnati - (17-3 Cincinnati)
Ohio at Louisville - (20-0 Louisville) *Honestly, this game could be closer than many people think. As a MAC person, I know how good Ohio U can be.
    Miami(Ohio) at Marshall - (15-5 Marshall)
Northern Illinois at Iowa - (11-9 Northern Illinois)

Is there a way to go back and look at our picks after the fact? Just curious.

I couldn't find a way last year which is why I quit last year.

This year I'm just pasting my picks into a spreadsheet so I can check then later.

Just FYI, ESPN has a nice application for this that lets you create groups.:)

I live in Ohio and Solich has been dogging his team, which is abnormal.

Yes there is. http://opbgn.startlogic.com/cfball2013/ ; go down to where it says Player Picks. You will have to then go down to the bottom of the page where it lists the picks, they are alphabetical. I'm not entirely sure why they don't have a drop down box listing all of the players(it used to). I'll dig and see if I can find it.

The reason why I didn't quite often reupload the picks was because (shockingly) I would get a bit busy on Saturday's and I would have a couple of people get their picks in very late under the gun(which is no big deal). So all of the picks just ultimately sat on my computer. I'll try to do better at keeping that up to date.

Not to mention too.. To my memory, not one person asked about it last year. Sorry!

The ESPN one is decently set up but it is also extremely easy to forget about.. plus everyone would need to get an ESPN account. This way you just go to the website, click, click, click, put your name and away we go. However, if I remember correctly all it did in terms of games was the Top 25 games which means you're picking a ton of gimme games like OSU vs Buffalo, etc.. I'm usually pretty good about picking a set of 15 harder games to select and games that aren't as easy to predict to make it a bit more of a challenge.

    Just my two cents.

Do the scores update automatically or is that something you have to do manually (which would be incredibly inefficient if so). I ask because they haven't updated since Thursday's games.
