College Gameday Final Week 4 2011

    Quick Hits

Kentucky topped conference rival Ole Miss in Lexington 24-10

    Auburn couldn’t stop Florida’s offense, losing 52-21

Mississippi State topped South Carolina due to auto pilot (congrats on the baby Pa!)

Maryland topped ACC dark horse Wake Forest in a 38-31 thriller

NC State pounded in state rival North Carolina 49-24

Boston College won an ACC slugfest with Clemson 12-3

Luke Kuechly and the Boston College defense were dialed in vs Clemson.

Maryland vs Wake Forest lived up to every bit of hype.

Commonwealth Stadium was abuzz following the Wildcats upset of Ole Miss.

    What We Learned

    #1. Maryland is as advertised.

I’m not sure what the voters are waiting for, but I think Maryland is as good as any team in the top 15 right now. I look for them to begin flying up the rankings here in the next couple weeks. They have a great offense and a defense that is capable of slowing down the other team enough to win ball games. Keep an eye on the Week 6 game @ NC State.

    #2. Virginia needs everything.

Last week we said Virginia needed a running game, now I am convinced they need everything (except maybe QB). Here is to hoping the Cavs can turn it around and challenge for a bowl.

#3. Boston College can bring the D.

Wowza, holding Clemson to 3 points IN DEATH VALLEY? That is unheard of. The Tigers, usually one of the better offenses in the ACC, if not the country, were held to a measly 231 yards of totally offense. If Boston College can keep enough offense churning, they are going to be in the top 10 all year long.

    Helmet Stickers

    Rece Davis
    Boston College defense
“Holding Clemson to 3 points is no easy task.”

    Lou Holtz
Maryland LB Darin Drakeford – 7 tackles, 1 INT
“Terps got a big game from their linebacker in a prove yourself game.”

    Mark May
NC State QB Russell Wilson – 19-28 393 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT
“Can’t ask for more from your QB in a rivalry game.”

    One Bold Prediction
    Auburn over South Carolina.

That wraps up this weeks edition of College Football Final, thanks for checking us out and see you next week after the final whistle blows!

I was wondering why Pa was on auto. Congrats on the baby!

It will definitely be a close game between us T-Law. Especially with Russell getting on a roll as of late, I could be in trouble. I have to get past Clay and Virginia first this week though.
