College Gameday Game of the Week (Week 12) #13 Utah @ #24 SDSU

San Diego St. takes on their second big test in a row, power-house Utah

After going just 4-8 a year prior, the San Diego Aztec's are off to their best start in school history. An impressive 10-0 record will be on the line as they play host to the Utah Utes. With only 5 Bowl Games played in school history, the San Diego State Aztecs are looking to solidify their place in the annals of their schools short football history. The Aztecs have had a nightmare of a time in the few bowl games they've played, winning just 1 out of 5.

This year the team's offensive workload is being shouldered by tailback Walter Kazee, who has an astounding 909 yards on just 137 attempts, including hitting pay dirt 9 times. What's more impressive is that he has been able to do this since Week 3, after coming in for an injured Brandon Sullivan.

Defensively, Cody Galae and BJ Williams have done an amazing job. With 60 tackles, 5 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 1 interception and 15 sacks between the two, they've been an incredible force against everyone offense they've played, and a solid part of the Aztecs winning formula.

The Utah team they'll face is no laughing matter however. The Utes have lost just one game all season, and even beaten a top 25 contender in TCU.

The Utes have 10 interceptions combined between just 3 of their talented secondary players. Quarterback Jordan Wynn has thrown 21 touchdowns with only three interceptions. Running back Eddie Wide has only put the ball on the ground 1 time all year. One thing is for sure about this talented Utah team, they are excellent in the turnover department, which is said to be crucial in winning games.

Alot is on the line in our College Gameday Game of the Week. Good luck Coaches!

    #21 San Diego State Aztecs (11-0) 28 vs. #13 Utah Utes (9-2) 21

It wasn't a pretty win, that's for sure. The San Diego State Aztecs barely survived the grueling defense of #13 Utah and escaped with a 7 point victory. San Diego State held Utah to a 3 and out on their first drive and looked like they were going to take it to the house. However, a deflected pass on 2nd down lead to an 86 yard interception by Utah defensive end Derrick Shelby. San Diego State got the ball back, only a few plays later to have sure handed halfback Walter Kazee fumble the ball and the Utes recovered. Utah drove down and scored again, up 14-0 early in the 2nd quarter.

"I told our guys it was gut check time," said Coach E "I said it was only 14 points, and we had alot of the game left and I wasn't giving up on them and told them not to give up on me."

The Aztecs rode the back of Walter Kazee all the way downfield and ended with a Kazee touchdown. The Aztec defense then stepped up and held Utah to a 3 and out. With :17 left in the half, quarterback Ryan Lindley threw a 55 yard strike to sophomore wideout Dominique Sandifer. The score was 14-14 at half.

San Diego State got the ball to start the second half, and took a long drive that ended in another Kazee touchdown, the Aztecs were up 21-14. That lead didn't last long as Utah took less that 2 minutes to score. 21-21 after 3 quarters.

The Aztecs drove down the field early in the 4th and took a 28-21 lead, and the defense held that lead for the rest of the game. Coach E was lifted on the shoulders of his players as the Aztecs improved to 11-0 on the season. "Normally our offense is sure handed and we don't turn the ball over that many times, but a win is a win."

Walter Kazee was named player of the game with 182 rushing yards on 31 carries and 2 TD. The Aztecs play host to UNLV next week in hopes of finishing a perfect 12-0 on the regular season.

Great game day write ups so far turstandfall! I think it would be cool to throw in a couple interview questions for each coach to respond to. Nothing crazy, just a couple pregame questions, so the guys not playing can kinda get a sense of what the coaches strategy is gonna be and what not... just a thought! lemme know what you think
